I don't believe it. Who would give up a movie to do a TV show?
Well If she wants to quit the movie out of solidarity for co-star Melissa Barrera this seems like a perfect excuse/smokescreen. Im sure if she really wanted to do Scream 7 they could have found a way to make it work time wise.
This is a good point actually. They killed off Dewey, their 2 main characters in the reboots are gone and the Internet seems to be unsure about Neve Campbell's return. This is gonna end up being like the last season of That 70's Show, isn't it?
It could be her bowing out as they fired her Co star for voicing support for Palestine. It was called anti semitic but from what I've seen it wasn't.
It could also be that Ortega has made supportive comments and prefers to walk than be pushed. Or was pushed, but has better PR.
Timing is certainly odd.
To be fair, she was already doing well from TV, and scream was a big win, but Wednesday made her a household name. If it really was scheduling, it still makes sense. The timing of the announcement makes that super unlikely.
It's not 1997.
Estimated 20 to 60k per episode of Wednesday, 8 episodes, cinema still wins. This one website says 600k for scream with no sources but it's no secret even today TV actors want to make it on film.
She left bc her co star was fired over Palestine.
Wednesday is so much more of a cultural touchstone right now than Scream is imo
Individual HBO episodes now have a bigger budget than horror movies do
