Wonder Showzen was truly a gift

That's all I needed to hear.

puts on boxing gloves

It taught me patience. And far too much about the letter N.

[-] negativeyoda@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

The show just went to another level when they ran out of fucks.

I need to re watch the episode where mother nature gets gender reassignment surgery and all the flowers die

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

I've only ever seen the pilot, which was made a few years before the rest of the show and it was just called Kids Show. It became the first episode of the show. I don't know why I've never gotten around to seeing the others. The pilot had me on the floor.

That is tremendous news my friend, because that means you get to have the gift of watching Wonder Showzen for the first time! You don't yet realize the blessing before you!

If you're 420-friendly, I highly recommending pairing consumption with the show ✌️

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

I'll get to it one day. I have a big list of things I missed out on because of parenthood.

[-] Vespair@lemm.ee 3 points 7 months ago

A valid reason, to be sure. But as an added bonus, the satire of kid's shows will probably hit you even harder due to your closer proximity to kid's media, whenever you do get around to it ✌️

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

I actually was working on a kids show at the time, so I don't think it would hit as hard now actually. But I will get to it eventually for sure.

"So we've tried to occupy wall St, but how about we just burn it down instead?"

(But actually what would work is burning the rich's homes down with them inside instead.)

[-] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

Let's stick to the guillotine, no need to be unnecessarily cruel.

[-] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

I disagree with all forms of violence though I will point out that the rich are unnecessarily cruel to the general population.

[-] kureta@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 months ago

I used to think that too but at least historicaly, if the problem is the system itself then there are no ways to solve the problem from within the system. see French revolution. The problems of feudalism couldn't have been solved by following the law. I am not calling for violence or anything like that. Just pointing out it hasn't been that simple, just categorically opposing any form of violence, throughout history. If the current system continues on its trajectory, soon there won't be anything legal left for the masses to do. So not "it should happen" but "it will inevitably happen", it being violent revolution.

social democracies are trying to slowly adapt the situation, let's hope it will be enough.

[-] Aceticon@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

There's a wall already in Wall Street, so just line them against the wall.

Why overcomplicate?!

[-] ICastFist@programming.dev 2 points 8 months ago

Do you suppose burning down Swiss banks would help? I believe it would

Yeah I find it very funny to hear people talk about eating the rich and all that because honestly, it's political right that's closest to a "new French Revolution", the left is way too peaceful to do anything like it these days... In North America anyway.

[-] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 13 points 8 months ago

Step One is to help both sides realize that “left” nor “right” are worthwhile distinctions. It’s haves and have-nots. Everything else is distraction to pit us against each other.

[-] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 months ago

Yeah but when you rebuild you still have to deal with the political opinion of the people who are have nots but still believe in capitalism.

[-] LesserAbe@lemmy.world 30 points 8 months ago

We're still saying "what are you running from??" when we see a person running

[-] Justas@sh.itjust.works 6 points 8 months ago

From my own mortality, I suppose.

Ah, Wonder Showzen! This was a great off-the-wall comedy sketch bit from people who were probably huffing paint in the writers' room. I don't know if it lasted more than one season and I can't be bothered to check. It has a real The State or Mr Show vibe in that it was uncomfortably ahead of its time. The State was a lot less uncomfortable. Mr Show was uncomfortable for less offensive reasons. But I'd call them all completely original. (Nothing is original, I know…)

[-] tygerprints@kbin.social 1 points 7 months ago

Loved Wonder Showzen though I never got to see it when it first aired. Really irreverent and crazy stuff. I loved the "Horse Apples" episode with no pretense of not making fun of rednecks and going as far as possible into tasteless territory. Not for everyone, but in a way I wish TV had more balls like this.
