I knew this was fake the moment it said the bully was actually suspended.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago

A bully doxxed my daughter and they were given group counseling sessions where they were made to apologize to each other (my daughter dared to get angry at her for the doxxing).

We are so fortunate to be able to live on a single income so I could take my daughter out of that hell and put her in online school.

She was so bullied. By so many kids. The administration didn't do a thing no matter how much we begged and pleaded.

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Kids nowadays are so violent. Literally last year when i was still in high school, all the freshman and sophomore were getting into fist fights over the dumbest stuff, like one kid stole another's frozen yogurt.

[-] force@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I didn't have that experience when I was in in high school, but in middle school the children were absolute fucking menaces, I mean complete scum of the Earth behaviour. Actual 11-13 year olds assaulting, harassing, and driving other kids to suicide attempts with absolutely 0 remorse. Although in high school people did get into fights for stupid reasons, but in general people were at least mature somewhat.

Now I wanna find the old director of highschool and kick him in the face like a world cup penalty. He should have suspended the bunch of them and by not doing so, allowed not only MY life to be ruined (temp) but also the bullies ENTIRE life to be ruined. Since they probably ended up in jail since noone showed them boundaries

I like trying to look for the grain of truth behind every joke that I laugh at. This one is pretty funny to me.

[-] IWantToFuckSpez@kbin.social 14 points 11 months ago

The real Gamer move defense

[-] Candelestine@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago

When you do this, you're not pushing boundaries, you're trying to enforce a different set of them that empowers you at the expense of someone else. That is not truly freedom and equality, not when you're trying to force someone else's thoughts and emotions in a certain direction.

It's just a roundabout method of disempowerment and control.

[-] mysoulishome@lemmy.world 25 points 11 months ago

Yeah that’s the joke

[-] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 10 points 11 months ago

Why do people decide to explain jokes like this? What's your thought process from when you see a punchline to writing out an over explanation?

[-] Potatos_are_not_friends@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The internet is wide, and many nerds are on the spectrum.

My coworker, super nice guy and would totally find him watching football or playing video games - always has to go, "Your joke is in reference to [movie name]."

He's on the spectrum. He "needs" to say that for himself. Maybe it's to help him understand , or maybe because he doesn't want anybody to be left out or feel like they are missing anything. Doesn't mean any harm and we accept that.

Empathy my friend.

[-] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 10 points 11 months ago

True I've known guys like that before. Thank you for the thoughtful response!

[-] LarmyOfLone@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

They are pushing boundaries and trying to find their voice. And trying our patience :D

[-] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

The amount of people with ASD on Lemmy is high.

Pointing that out doesn’t go down well though…

It’s 2024, IDGAF if you are on the spectrum I just want to know so I can better interpret your comment.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

So, libertarian comedians.

Sorry, “comedians” ;)

[-] cashews_best_nut@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Are you Chinese or a weeaboo?

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago
[-] cashews_best_nut@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

That was an unexpected answer. Why the Chinese name then?

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

Well, my actual username is French, and I’m not from France. So what would it matter what my display name is?

[-] cashews_best_nut@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

A mystery, wrapped in an enigma performing a paradox dance!

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

But to answer your question, 摆 烂 (bai lan) could be translated to “let it rot,” or to let things that are already beyond repair deteriorate, or “stop trying, it’s pointless”

It’s more or less a buzzword. Internet slang. It’s referring to economics, society, etc. Just a commentary on the current state of the world.

I thought it was a fun phrase. I’ll change it when something else rolls by, but it’s actually kinda fun to see the conservatives go nuts. Not cashews though, those are the best kind of nuts.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

While we're explaining our usernames...

Please stop telling me there's no such animal as a flying squid. (Not you personally, Lemmy/Reddit in general.)

It's especially annoying when it's done in a smarmy know-it-all way.

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

While we are explaining actual usernames (tsonfeir). It’s the name I give to people online. Theroux Sonfeir. Which isn’t my real name of course, but if you say it fast enough it sounds like the roof is on fire

[-] Zehzin@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I gotta appreciate the commitment to explained usernames though

That's all you need to know, that's convenient.

Of course, cashew nuts aren't actually nuts, they're the drupes from an accessory fruit 🤓

[-] Mr_Blott@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

While I absolutely agree with you, to a point, do you not think the world would be really fuckin boring if it was filled with folk like you?

I'm desensitised enough to have the utter pish ripped out of me and to be able to laugh along with it; do you really think we should all tone down our sense of humour to fit those that have skin as thin as a pound-shop teabag?

If you want to be tolerant, can you not be tolerant of those who appreciate dark humour; that is, the kind of humour that's existed for millennia before you, simply to help people get through tough times?

Just wondering

[-] RealFknNito@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Of course it would. It would start with societially placed boundaries, then self-placed boundaries, and without pushback it would continue in a loop until comedy was sterile and repetitive.

[-] RealFknNito@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I like dark jokes that make me a little uncomfortable. Staying away from boundaries makes life boring and it's always interesting to see people make up different reasons as to why types of comedy is bad. It's never the same reason and it's never more convincing than the last.

[-] Candelestine@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Dark jokes are great. Just don't be sadistic towards other people and try to claim humor as your defense, that's when it gets dishonest.

[-] LarmyOfLone@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

Not every desire is healthy or moral to pursue. May you live in interesting times :D

[-] RealFknNito@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

And not everything you find distasteful or upsetting is immortal or unhealthy.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Dark jokes can be made without punching down. This is satire on the whole idea of certain well-known comedians punching down by making very bigoted jokes about marginalized groups and not getting the consequences they should for it.

Michael Richards would be given a Fox comedy special after his outburst these days.

[-] OpenStars@startrek.website 8 points 11 months ago

I think I don't want to pay to see his show.

[-] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

When a comedian says shit that bullies others and you're uncomfortable with that you're obligated to pay to see the show and laugh at all of the jokes. If you don't, you're guilty of the crime of "cancel culture" which means you're a terrible person for not watching things you don't like.

Don't you understand comedy? The audience doesn't decide what's funny, old comedians go on Joe Rogan and tell you what's funny. Then you must laugh at the jokes that have been decided are the funny by the comedy authorities. That's just how comedy works.

Laugh when you're told to laugh and nobody has to get hurt. Well except for trans people but the comedy authorities have decided that's funny and we must never question the comedy authorities. Comedy is a deadly serious business and it's more important than anything else in this world!
