the 150 dollar solution

[-] DirtyPair@hexbear.net 86 points 4 months ago

i can't even imagine the thought process.

"you better vote for us or else we'll let the other guy do even more genocide!!!!"

????????

maybe this is going too far but it honestly surprises me americans don't assassinate their politicians more often

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 71 points 4 months ago

The lack of political violence in the us has always astonished me.

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 72 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Theres plenty of political violence in the US actually. Just not directed at our politicians unfortunately

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 40 points 4 months ago

Relative to how much other violence is normal in this shithole it definitely is astonishing how people only go after soft targets. A nation of cowardly bullies

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 25 points 4 months ago

The one that really gets me, like really really, is the cop shoot so many people's dogs every day and no one ever goes John Wick on the cops about it. That's weird. There's something cultural going on there that merits study and dissection.

it's like their whole thing, you know? or at least it's supposed to be but they never do it! as a staunch fan of political violence it's very frustrating to me.

[-] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 24 points 4 months ago

freedom-and-democracy was as farce, right?

[-] SaniFlush@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

They're too busy reaping the benefits of imperialism to give up their treats... or at least they think they're still benefiting.

Do we still say "treats" here?

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 35 points 4 months ago

Yes we still treatposting. Third worldists have the upper hand nowadays

[-] SovietyWoomy@hexbear.net 72 points 4 months ago

Why do people think the lifelong zionist will kill less Palestinians than the cheeto?

[-] Goadstool@hexbear.net 67 points 4 months ago

Holy shit, dude. I legit can't believe they're actually making this argument. I understand it's the best thing that they can say, but if that's the case, wouldn't it be better to just not say it, and focus on other stuff? I know they're doing that, too, but to go here at all... Jesus. It looks so bad, even for them.

[-] ReadFanon@hexbear.net 66 points 4 months ago

Fixed

"Bro, the same number of people who are going to get killed regardless of which option you chose."

"No, it's different - see under Biden they're going to get killed at a slower rate so it's going to feel like it's the more acceptable of the two options."

"But the same number of people are going to die!!"

"You people are so unwilling to come to a reasonable compromise. No wonder we're never going to make any progress in this country when there's people like you who make unrealistic demands of the Democratic party. Don't you understand that Trump is worse?"

gonna make a comment that doesn't call for illegal-to-say

If you are a liberal or progressive who plans not to vote in November over the Biden administration's support of Israel in the Gaza conflict, you are a fucking moron. Abstaining from voting is the same as handing Trump your vote, because I guarantee conservatives won't miss this election for the world.

:ole-reliable: vote

(we should get an ole reliable emote)

Biden is trying to pump the brakes, trump will encourage them to wipe out palestine.\

do liberals actually think this? like they actually think biden saying "they gotta stop!" and then sending in another shipment of bombs counts as him "pump(ing) the breaks"?

Heres the thing, bidens foot is nowhere near the brakes. Hes in the passenger seat at best. Bibi is the one driving, and biden is telling him to slow down. Biden is no more capable of controlling Israel than the EU is, but you dont see people yelling at them for it.

Now people want to replace biden with trump, who would challenge netanyahu to floor it or no balls.

they actually think this, huh?

May someone EILI5 why this is the hill that so many, particularly young “progressives” wish to die on?

It seems like if there ever was a “both-sides” topic, this is the one. Why are they willing to accept what the other alternative (a Trump presidency) will be like but not accept the lesser of the two evils (a Biden presidency)?

liberals can't understand being anti-genocide unless it's explained to them as if they were a toddler.

According to noted philosopher The Good Place, the correct answer is to throw yourself in front of the trolley.

so-true it's just like my treats!!!!

"I'm against genocide" says the genocide supporters who will let Trump genocide Palestinians, Ukrainians, Taiwanese, American Muslims, LGBTQ+ Americans, Jewish Americans, Immigrants, and many, many others.

and democrats will stand gleefully by and watch it happen, right?

You’re missing about 29,999 bodies on bidens track

They just make stuff up. Trump is going to genocide... Taiwanese people? The worse their guy gets, the worse his opponent must be or else their guy would be bad (impossible).

[-] VILenin@hexbear.net 24 points 4 months ago

I think the genocide supporters are the people voting for the war criminal responsible for committing genocide, actually

Just casually admitting they consider Palestinians to be a necessary sacrifice to keep the imperial machine running.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 42 points 4 months ago

Heaven forbid we do anything to the trolley, though! 👀

[-] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 37 points 4 months ago

The trolley is private property sweaty we can not harm the company running the trolley.

They are just missing the next panel, where both tracks lead to the annihilation of all Palestinians.

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 40 points 4 months ago

Where's that pic of the rocket launcher aimed at the trolley?

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 39 points 4 months ago
[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 39 points 4 months ago

Imagine presenting this to someone who wasn't crunk off the cult juice. Look, either way you vote innocent people are going to die, it's up to you how many.

[-] TomBombadil@hexbear.net 37 points 4 months ago

I don't even buy the implied argument that trump will kill more. Maybe. Not like he's a friend of Palestine. But Biden is the one currently actively sending weapons. Often even when other ghouls in the legislature don't want to. And he's been an avowed Zionist his whole Career. Definitely not seen compelling evidence or proof that trump would be worse in anyway

[-] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 24 points 4 months ago

the only thing he could realistically do to escalate is commit US forces, and everything about his first term indicates that he wouldn't want to do that

Holding the life of every last Palestinian not blown to shit hostage over a farcical election. Boils my fucking blood.

[-] RoabeArt@hexbear.net 28 points 4 months ago

This is the thing that pisses me off about libs. They focus on the hypothetical of how much worse it would be under Trump, but ignore the fact that Biden is the president RIGHT THE FUCK NOW and doesn't do a thing to stop the genocide.

There's nothing they hate so much as fucking peasants having the nerve to think we can and should exert political pressure on the political class.

The idea that we think we might have a role in politics beyond casting a vote is such an anathema to them that many can't even conceive of it as a possibility (so they treat is as apathy; we don't care and would let Trump win) or they can conceive of it and seeing us try gives them cognitive dissonance which makes them hate us.

Either way they will hate us for being principled activists. There's no other way for them to see us.

Reddit is one massive liberal echo chamber. Nearly every prediction they’ve made has been wrong, including Bernie winning.

Gamble against Reddit’s predictions and the odds will be very favorable for you every time.

I'm 99.99% convinced no one says this shit outside of lemmy. No one from the NYT op-ed column to the youtube comment section would make this argument. Only lemmy has the sufficient purity for liberal stemlords to make this insane argument.

someone please reality check me on the above

These people should be banned for genocide apologia.

The GOP wants to kill us but the DNC isn't stopping them; they're both culpable. If you feel that voting for one party or the other gives it institutional legitimacy then you're well within your rights to not give any support, no matter how small, to the US and it's structures.

[-] Parzivus@hexbear.net 20 points 4 months ago

Where's the joke

[-] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 20 points 4 months ago

Only way there's a difference is if Trump decided to help Gaza fix its death reporting infrastructure or something.

[-] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 19 points 4 months ago

The inhumanity of these fuckers is so condescending and complete I honestly wonder if they would feel differently if it was their own families at stake.

[-] niph@hexbear.net 18 points 4 months ago

Fiancé genuinely said to me “the situation would be much worse under Trump. I just don’t think you’ve imagined how bad it could get”. As if I were the short-sighted one

[-] niph@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago

We don’t even live in America and he’s constantly telling me Biden has to win or [insert calamity here]. I had been avoiding keeping up with current affairs for a bit because of MH reasons, but now I’m caught up I have realised that he’s been left with nothing but Reddit politics to engage with in the meantime

[-] booty@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

i love how democrats have framed voting as something only they are actually able to do. the trump presidency is simply assured, it goes without saying; it is the default state of the universe and trump supporters' actions have nothing to do with it. but if democrats get out there and cast some epic votes, they can change that future. only they have agency.

[-] pastalicious@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

The image should extend further to the left and there should be a bunch of dead Palestinians on it and Biden should be driving the Trolley right now
