Tiling windows on a mac? Thought I'd never see the day.

[-] hibsen@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Clipboard history next please. I mean I can keep using an app for it but it'd be nice if it was just a thing.

[-] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world -3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Even if it were just a thing, Apples implementation would be limited and inflexible, so I'd probably use an app anyway.

[-] __init__@programming.dev 4 points 2 months ago

Wonder if it will be enough to replace Rectangle if all I use is fullscreen/halves/quarters?

[-] thehatfox@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago

The window tiling and new continuity features like iPhone Mirroring and drag and drop look useful.

Some of the AI stuff seems to be have limited geographic availability.

[-] Rexios@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago

None of the AI stuff is even available yet

Background replacement in FaceTime video? What an age we live in!

[-] dpkonofa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

It seems it’s available for any input from the camera, not just FaceTime. The selection they showed was the menu bar camera usage indicator.

I’m gonna install this in a VM and see how the new features work

[-] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

Is there an easy way to install in a VM?

[-] lud@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

I'm also interested if anyone knows how.

I tried doing it a while back but I gave up.

The URL to the ipsw can be found in this commit to virtualbuddy, likely useable with UTM today, and virtualbuddy whenever it gets its next release.

Downloadable topo maps for a Mac? How are you supposed to view them while hiking? 🤔

[-] 8Bitz0@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 months ago

You don’t carry a laptop around while you’re hiking?

[-] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

awareness of your personal context

Is this just a fancy way of saying "we track everything you do"?

[-] dpkonofa@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

No. They don’t track anything. It’s all on-device.

[-] B0rax@feddit.de 1 points 2 months ago

Well, the device tracks everything.

[-] dpkonofa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Ok…and? If it doesn’t send it to Apple then they’re not tracking anything. Stop talking nonsense.

[-] lud@lemm.ee -3 points 2 months ago

Microsoft also claims that "recall" only works on the device.

[-] dpkonofa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago
[-] aport@programming.dev 0 points 2 months ago

Huh, that must be why they made a big show about the data your device sends to their AI cloud is not stored or shared.

[-] nitefox@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

Damn, this looks very good
