Ever since the last update ive started seeing down votes on hexbear posts where previously there were none.

Idk if this is affecting post scores for people on hexbear or not I just thought I'd point it out in case y'all haven't noticed.

We should turn downvotes into upvotes. Let the hatred become our power!

Gonna rewrite the downvote endpoint to give an upvote instead programming-communism

[–] roux@hexbear.net 18 points 10 months ago

Also make it downvote one of their comments at random.

Nooooo now everyone will see I'm cringe kitty-cri-potato

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No, your posts about Ogre Tactics are too good to call you cringe.

For now.

[–] magi@hexbear.net 17 points 10 months ago

You aren't cringe lea-blush

i have seen downvotes posts before the update, most hexbear posts seem not attract people from others intances that downvote but the ones that get big sometimes do like the megathreads

downvotes from other instances dont affect hexbear posts last i remember

Well before if I would down vote a hexbear post and refresh the down vote would go away. Now they stick around

I've downvoted this post from lemmygrad. Doesn't appear to be federating so far

edit: yeah it shows up on lemmy.ml but is ignored by hexbear. There may have been a change in the logic with 0.19.4/5

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 11 points 10 months ago

Yeah I see it too

[–] roux@hexbear.net 20 points 10 months ago (3 children)

I saw someone with a 0 vote the other day and thought it was odd. I do appreciate that there are still chuds down voting us even though it doesn't matter. It's baaically like some lib-brain Skinner Box for suckers and losers.

You can get a zero by manually un voting yourself.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

That might have been what it was.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 22 points 10 months ago

I return my automatic up votes to the masses

From each according to his ability

[–] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I've seen a negative downvote before, federation is weird

[–] roux@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It might have been someone downvoting themselves like Owl said. I considered taking a screenshot but didn't. First time I've seen it here.

I will never visit from a different instance

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

I think that's always been the case though. I remember seeing them from lemmygrad before the patch.

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago

I'm fairly certain I saw downvotes on hexbear posts way before. I think they are local to your instance, and not federatd though. If people on lemmy.ml downvote hexbear posts lemmy.ml saves that, maybe even tells hexbear about it but hexbear doesn't care. And other instances get their data from hexbear so they won't see those downvotes, only the ones local to them.

I’m having this weird thing on mobile where sometimes when I click next it just refreshes the homepage
