Millennials rise up. Childless is a valid fucking choice.

[-] MimicJar@lemmy.world 140 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Not that I disagree but Kamala married Doug in 2014 and has two step children, aged 29 and 25. Or 19 and 15 at the time of marriage.

She is certainly a mother if she wants that title.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 68 points 5 months ago

Ah, this I was unaware of... well then those Republicans can get fucked. As a fellow parent by marriage exclusively kids are kids regardless of whether someone wants to throw a step in there... and discounting stepchildren reeks of icky eugenics bullshit.

[-] 5C5C5C@programming.dev 62 points 5 months ago

It's well established that she has an excellent relationship with her kids-by-marriage, and even became close friends with their bio-mom while attending the kids' extra-curricular activities together.

And my personal favorite part: the kids refer to her as Momala, because step-mom just didn't feel right to them.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 25 points 5 months ago

Those are fluffy facts but they put the Trump family to shame by comparison (especially with Baron coming out as yet another weirdo) and might win over some voters. I'd personally love to know more about her platform ideas but these things don't hurt.

[-] 5C5C5C@programming.dev 23 points 5 months ago

Honestly I think it's more than fluff. Her relationship with her family says a lot about her character and her integrity. She really is the anti-Trump in every conceivable way, and I'm really starting to believe that the stark difference between the two is going to pay off.

What's weird about the kid

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 months ago

He's growing up to be a weird political person and embracing the GOP.

[-] 18_24_61_b_17_17_4@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

Was really hoping it was going to be a one-and-done with the Trump family name in politics in this country. Fuck.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 months ago

Did you miss all of them infiltrating the RNC? Hell even Kimberly Gilfoil keeps somehow getting the spotlight and she's an awful speaker.

[-] __ghost__@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago

What did anyone expect?

[-] PersnickityPenguin@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago

He's The Cyber

[-] PersnickityPenguin@lemm.ee 20 points 5 months ago

Also, one typically does not have kids at age.... 49.

[-] Dempf@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 months ago

Apparently they call her "momala".

[-] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 93 points 5 months ago

When this doesn't work, expect angry black female next.

Trump will definitely say the n word if he uses uppity.

[-] qprimed@lemmy.ml 35 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

you can absolutely feel that one waiting in the wings. wonder if they will combine it with evil-jailer / hippie-prosecutor for 2x the wall action.

[-] Archer@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago

There’s just so many well known hippie prosecutors

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 69 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

dude they really have nothing. this is so pathetic lol... you'd think they have something but all they've gone up with so far has been:

  • is woman
  • is not white
  • laughs
  • is stepmom

the one thing that might actually hurt her support is that she's a prosecutor but they can't use that because they're supposed to be the tough on crime crowd but also nominated a convicted felon so it's really dumb to bring up the fact that she's a prosecutor.

edit: new attack line just dropped; add it to the list:

  • is against plastic straws

man, she's really done for now

[-] Klear@lemmy.world 13 points 5 months ago

so it’s really dumb

That part is not what's stopping them.

[-] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

You're making the mistake of assuming they will act logically, instead of like a brainwashed death cult. If logic mattered they wouldn't be Republicans.

[-] Sunroc@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

They want to overhaul the justice system and redefine right and wrong, so they could easily attack her while being on their same message.

[-] Fester@lemm.ee 66 points 5 months ago

They’re not morally satisfied with anyone who’s not a white father of at least 5 children from at least 3 mothers.

[-] elvith@feddit.org 25 points 5 months ago

*underage mothers

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 58 points 5 months ago

George Washington was sterile and, of course, had no children.

[-] lemonmelon@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

But the sons of his opponents wished that he was their dad.

[-] CodexArcanum@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

He'll save children, but not the British children.

The GOP wants to control every aspect of women's lives and their bodies. That’s why Harris' life choices and political success infuriate them

...

But, of course, whether or not Harris is a parent, or how she parents, is not the GOP’s real issue. The real issue is that the GOP wants to exert control over every aspect of women’s lives, beginning with their bodies. The Dobbs decision was the beginning, but it is far from where they hope to take us. The Project 2025 manifesto wants to eliminate coverage of emergency contraception. Vance, himself, has said he’s in favor of a national abortion ban. And there is an increasing push on the right to roll back no-fault divorce.

Harris represents an idea of womanhood that flies in the face of all this.

[-] deaf_fish@lemm.ee 21 points 5 months ago

The real reason is that they are fascist and they want to do fascist things. And they can't do as many fascist things if Trump is not elected as president.

[-] willsenior@lemm.ee 16 points 5 months ago

She's not a Targaryan. We don't give a fuck.

[-] ImpressiveEssay@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Moving heir talking points so fast was very... Very telling.

Bombing their set, furiously flipping through their recipe cards for a bit that works, but all they have is junk
