Looks like our crowdsourced load testing was successful in revealing several bugs lol

It's not really a bug. All instances don't contain everything from all other instances, so when someone links to something that is there on their instance, it works, but when someone sees that same post or comment on another instance that doesn't have that thing yet, the link doesn't work.

I made another comment explaining how to make it work.

Is it possible to make that work automatically without the user doing anything special?

Disregard. Just saw your response to a similar question below.

Well i got served a language_not_allowed recently which had me feel excluded even tho it was the same language.

You need to make sure unsupported is also selected in your profile and not just English, otherwise some English posts # that have not been categorised don't get served to you. I think is how it works

In the future it likely will. There's nothing that should prevent this, its just not there in the code yet. I know friendica is able link if you just type its name.

And for now, there's more important stuff, like actual game-breaking bugs that need fixing.

That's exactly what they are!

When you get this, it means your instance doesn't know what that relative link is supposed to lead to.

You'll need the exact name in the [!name@instan.ce](/c/name@instan.ce) format, or the url to that thing for the instance its on (on kbin you always have to use the full kbin url)

Then, paste that into search on your instance, and this will make it "update the archives". It can take a sec, it might say "no results" for like minute. But after its been done, the link should work!

it would be nice if Lemmy did this automatically when throwing the 404 error

IMPORTANT

Please do not post the "good friend" or similar copypasta

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.
