See ya guys tomorrow.

It's easy to forget between all the times of praying for interesting weather that there is very much such a thing as too much rain.

[–] Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

RIP Williams mechanics. Hopefully Albon can still start on the front row.

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Absolutely massive hit for Albon shiieeet. Glad he's ok.

Williams cars have taken so much damage this year.. It just doesn't end.

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Aston Martin mechanics got a tough job ahead of themselves. Both drivers had hard hits against the barriers.

I'm wondering if we get some further starting grid complications with all these crashes so close to the race. There could be some tricky repairs and possibly either a quota penalty or just not enough time for the mechanics.

[–] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I wonder if Red Bull have anything to gain by changing the setup and starting from pit lane.

[–] Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I think the weather makes it so hard to predict. Anything is possible!

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Holy shit Verstappen's on 12th. With the grid penalty he will start 17th.

McLaren has mad plot armor this weekend.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 years ago

No wonder Verstappen was trying to overtake stroll when they went out of the pits

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Omg Norris, made it by the skin of his teeth.

Surprised to see Hamilton go out in Q1. Experienced drivers are usually expected to do better in wet conditions.

Tragic result for Haas cars after recent good performances.

Probably the best opportunity the Sauber cars have to get a good qualifying position. Unfortunate to see Zhou go out.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 years ago

Norris escaping by the skin of his teeth

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Damn Brazil always deliver unbelievable drama.

[–] Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Is that ~~Glock~~ Stroll?!

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 years ago

Lmao. Now nando in the wall as well

[–] alphacyberranger@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Estimated start of qualifying at 16:00 (so in 23 minutes)

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Bumped up to ~~16:15~~ ~~16:30~~ ~~16:45~~ 17:00 now.

😭

[–] FrostyTrichs@walledgarden.xyz 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

This has been pushed 15 minutes out.

Edit, an even further 15 minutes more. Now estimating 4:30 local time.

[–] Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Absolute carnage of a session. I was on edge seeing Norris at risk in Q1, then Q2 was looking ropey with the first red flag. What a turnaround. Going to be a spicy race now.

[–] Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

I can't see this taking place today.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Damn, it has swung the other way. Game on for the championship

[–] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 years ago

Spirit of Latifi lives on

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 years ago

Glad that its still wet

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Visibility on track seems awful from turn 14 to turn 1. So much fog/spray in the air.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 years ago

Should be better in q2 with less cars

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Aw man Colapinto.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Now albon. Way way too many red flags in conditions that are challenging but not terrible. What is going on?

This is what happens when you have to stop the racing because of the spray every time it rains. Drivers are losing their ability to drive safely in the rain because they do it so rarely

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 2 years ago

Now albon. Way way too many red flags in conditions that are challenging but not terrible. What is going on?

Drivers have been complaining about the new tarmac all weekend, probably making grip in the wet even worse and more unpredictable than usual.

[–] Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I'm expecting the race start to be equally dramatic. Although if there's fewer cars able to make their grid slots because of these quali crashes, we might get through the first lap without a red.

Edit - Russel on the front row. Definitely going to be dramatic.

[–] roflo1@feddit.nl 4 points 2 years ago

Doc 48 says qualy will happen at 7:30 (local time) and the race will move ahead at 12:30 (also local time)

Beware that F1tv doesn’t yet show the updated race time.

F1TV broadcast is up again.

[–] Million@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 years ago

It's happening! McLaren has been given a way out again. Lando now has to bring top form for the rest of the races, and they need to hope for poor performance from max to win.

This qualifying session has been a wild ride with norris barely going through, red flags and the both RB's out in Q2...

Now lets see Q3

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Too many people are crashing. Conditions are difficult but not that difficult. Hell we have had worse conditions at Interlagos in the past and we had less crashes

Yuki throws his hat back into the race for the RBR seat

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What a qualifying for VCARB! Ocon P4!

Even with the crash Albon is P7, ahead of Piastri.

INCIDENT INVOLVING CAR 22 (TSU) NOTED - FAILING TO FOLLOW RACE DIRECTORS INSTRUCTIONS – CROSSING THE LINE AT PIT ENTRY

Noooooo I hope it doesn't mess things up for him.

Edit: No further action. https://mastodon.jeckyll.net/@f1bot/113418981983954981

[–] hal_5700X@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Me seeing Williams not going to in the race.

Lando may make it happen. He's only 44 points away from Max.

[–] FrostyTrichs@walledgarden.xyz 3 points 2 years ago

Now pushed to 4:45 local time.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 years ago

If it rains, Norris is fucked

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 years ago

So what are the predictions for the wet¿?

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 2 points 2 years ago

Why does it seem like Norris keeps waiting so long to put a lap in?

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That was a hard whack for Sainz. Rear end is in pieces.

Lando needs a fast lap ASAP before the rain restarts.

[–] hal_5700X@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why do we have wet tyres? If they not going to use them.
