I live every day under a guillotine blade that's way less merciful. Death from freezing if I don't pay rent, starvation if I can't afford food, diabetes if I can't afford healthy food, PFAS/PFOA cancer if I do nothing at all anywhere. Those people are murdering me for profit instead of some crime. Their guillotine blade is hovering over the entire planet within my artificially-shortened lifetime. Turning that blade on them directly would be the most merciful response possible. Any alternative I can think of begins with lining every road with crosses.

Fun fact: The french last executioned someone with a guillotine while the original Star Wars was in theatres in 1977.

I appreciate memes about it, but no. Any modern progressive political movement can and should embrace a zero-death-penalty policy, let the billionaires watch as the world gets better in their absence from a prison.
