Honestly, a recession would be best case, wouldn't it? Everything I read makes it seem like a depression is inevitable.

9. No link shorteners.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

MODERATORS
The last time there was a depression in the US, the Democrats gradually gained control of Congress until they achieved a supermajority.
Hopefully they will also get state governments.
That'd be nice.
The frustrating thing is we've already learned this lesson. But b/c people don't pay attention in school, we have to learn it the hard way all over again.
Republicans and Recession

I read somewhere that before the election, economists were predicting that whoever won, would inherit a great economy.

"a great economy" for the top 10% being supported by a massive underclass.
An American tradition to be sure. Slaves to Jim Crow to immigrants, but now most are that underclass.
And they'll still call this a healthy economy, lol, as only those of capital means are human to the capitalists. Everyone else is livestock. Welcome to Panem.
May the capital markets burn to the ground. At least climate change will do what we should have in a couple decades when it doesn't matter anymore.
Never let business people near a functioning business or Republicans near a functioning government or economy.
We should probably give a lot of money to rich people. That'll fix it.

Americans betrayed one another since Reagan under the capitalist call of "you can get more, just fuck over the fellow Americans that you don't like" for over half a century. When's the last time a party has said a god damned thing about solving a relatively easy problem for a wealthy nation: ending homelessness?
The incoming pain is well earned.
I'm going to think of all the burgeoning socialist regimes we've destabilized through soft power and military action, places that wanted to be societies of people that lifted one another up, in the name of keeping exploitation markets open to our capitalists, now that the bill for our mass cultural malice both within and without has come due when I'm feeling the pain.
How about you? Will you acknowledge our nation's decades of unrepentant malice when your family is hungry? Or blame it on the for profit media pushed powerless scapegoats dejour like the homeless or immigrant neighbors we've failed and often ironically vocally resent?
Recession? No. Depression? Yes.
