It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

MODERATORS

Okay the first one of these I get it. But the most attention should be on those removed comments at the bottom of the list. So from the bottom:

What's the purpose of removing a comment asking @MomoTimeToDie@sh.itjust.works what a 'momo' is and why it's 'time to die'? Doesn't that seem like a good fucking question? Why is a mod stepping in on this? If I were a moderator I sure would want to know what's up with that.

What rule is broken by saying their instance is bad? And in reply to a story about naked unashamed bigotry being allowed on it no less.

A smarmy little paragraph calling out someone for being toxic and whining about toxicity in return? Nary an expletive.

And just what the hell is wrong with the comment second from the top?

Libs love to worship free speech and the marketplace of ideas, until anyone left of them starts talking. They dont even hide it, its fucking maddening.

porky-happy 10 degrees to the left in the good times.

10 degrees to the right if it affects them personally. scared-fash

I feel like bringing your drama from another instance into hexbear isn't helpful. Also, I'm not saying you were wrong, but you were pretty hostile.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There will be a time when we vote on whether to stay federated with them and I feel this post is helpful in the service of that deliberation

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

I don't think this poster was making any valid points over there. This isn't highlighting as much as you might think. Even though the mod actions were a bit harsh, he was being hostile, which would get a comment removed here too.

Edit: like really, I am ignorant. Is "Momo" slang for an oppressed group that I'm not aware of?

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago (14 children)

There are only two contexts in which I've heard the term 'momo'. One is a cartoon monkey. The other is homosexuals.

And I guess now that I google it there's some kind of meme with a creepy drawing

[–] TheWorldSpins@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

The user, I think, just called me a homophobic slur but it was auto-removed. Leaning towards that.

They're already having their whiny "can we block Hexbear" post, which will soon be followed by an even more whiny "can we defederate from Hexbear" post.

Edit: Yep, here's the "can we defederate from Hexbear" post.

What does it mean?

[–] wtypstanaccount04@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

Presumably they are referring to the classic 80s magical girl series "Magical Princess Minky Momo" which almost ended halfway through when the animators had Minky Momo get run over by a truck. For the full story behind this wacky anime, check out this video.

@Stuka@lemmy.ml while we're at it what's your deal?

[–] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago
[–] honeynut@lemm.ee 12 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

in regards to the name, if I were to be charitable, it's likely a reference to an older zoomer shock image meme, or they're Captain Aizen from Bleach.

[–] WittyProfileName2@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

POV: you're on a Lemmy instance that totally isn't sheltering transphobes.

Another sh.itjust.works mod.

The same mod:

Hexbears, we have to let people call us slurs on lemmy to make communism happen! Forget real life organizing, we just need to post harder!

(I didn't realize how bad this instance was when I voted to federate...)

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Surely this must be ironic? Hell, the blackpilled third-worldists have better analysis than this.
