Not once, since Fallout 4's release, in god only knows how many hundreds of hours of play time, have I gotten the perfectly preserved pie..

UNTIL TODAY.

I jumped up in such excitement that I smashed my knee into my desk and now walk like a feral, but god damnit who cares about pain when you have THE PIE.

You should play Portal next, see if you can find the cake.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I've beaten portal and found the cake many times :p

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Aha, good on you =D

... Have you gotten all the unique radio transmissions?

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I hate that achievement.

I have done it twice, and both times it didnt register.

had the same problem with Little Rocket Man in HL2 Episode 2.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

... I have not had problems with the achievements themselves registering, but dear holy god would that be frustrating.

I mean like... guides for them exist now, but holy shit when those first appeared... and/or if you didn't use guides or have the internet... very time consuming to figure out how to do.

o7 to your dedication!

I've always had trouble with achievements triggering.

and its usually the big bastard achievements too. Like Little Rocketman from HL2 Ep 2, or that transmission one from portal that I forget the name of, some other ones I've done multiple times and never registered are Full Shipment in Stardew Valley (ship one of each item in the game), Or the Beverager/Make all Nuka Cola Flavors in F4:NW, or going back to HL2 Ep 2...the Get Some Grub achievement.

And its not like I miss anything or anything. when I sit down to do the big bitch achievements like those I literally print out a checklist with locations, pictures, etc, to check each component off as I get it.

So I know I've fully done them, even if steam refuses to believe so.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 months ago

I have had some trouble with achievos registering in some games, but it seems like you've run into that ... a lot more frequently than me.

I dunno what to say, I don't know why that would be the case, but I do know that that was/is an issue a lot of people have had... I completely believe you, and ... I am currently frustrated that you've gone through that, I'm getting flashbacks of games crashing right before I complete them or save files hopelessly corrupting.

=[

I need an explanation. I haven't played fo4 in a decade.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 23 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Porta-A-Diners are a device in Fallout 4 that have a very very small chance of dispensing one slice of perfectly preserved pie, even with 10+ luck.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Haha gotcha. Nice job!

[–] zewm@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Generally you use this machine and it’s like a claw that tries to pick up the pieces but it fails like 99% of the time.

For future runs:

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Port-A-Diner_(Fallout_4)

The Port-A-Diner at the Nuka-World junkyard has a 100% chance of giving out a perfectly preserved pie.

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Congratz.

Got any plans on what to do with it?

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (3 children)

Obviously, I'm going to build a temple to it and make it the centerpiece of a new religion.

I mean.. what else is there to do with it?

edit

Ooh.. Just decided to go full self harm mode and maybe get the perfectly preserved pie from EVERY port-a-diner.

[–] Apeman42@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Put it on a table right in front of Marcy, who is (naturally) assigned to a pillory forever.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oh, I have dealt with my Marcy Long problem, quite definitively.

[–] rosahaj@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I kind of wish Bethesda did more with the Longs. it would have been really nice to see them come to a healthier place with the help of the player. In the game as it launched, you only rreally have Jun apologizing to the player, and Marcy apologizing to Jun, and they're kind of flat past that.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yep. There was potential for growth and a good story there.

but instead they just left Marcy in complete asshole mode for the entirity of the game, which gets so fuckin old having to listen to her be an asshole every time you come through.

Honestly there have been many playthroughs where I just completely avoided anything to do with concord just so I wouldnt have to listen to Marcy be an asshole and Preston's constant "OMG ANOTHER SETTLEMENT"

[–] rosahaj@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It doesn't help that Bethesda NPCs have a tendancy to walk up to the player and start spouting off lines.

It's one thing to walk through Sanctuary and hearing Marcy and Jun talking about Quincy, but it's another thing entirely to have Marcy walk up to the player at a workbench, and then start spouting off 'Do I look like I have time to chat?'

It would also have helped if she wasn't so directly dismissive of the players efforts, such as insulting their settlement when realistically, they are doing the best they can.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Theres a lot of things I hate about the settlement system in Fallout 4, but Marcy is probably at the top of the list, lol.

[–] Oka@sopuli.xyz 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Somebody ping me when a mod expands their story and gives them new voice lines.

Or, a mod that expands pre-war gameplay

...or Fallout 5

[–] tal@lemmy.today 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I am reasonably confident that a release of Fallout 5 will generate activity on this community.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Well be living fallout irl before that game ever gets finished.

[–] rosahaj@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 11 months ago

Keep an eye out for my Jun and Marcy Long companion mod, coming out soon!

/j

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I put her in a sexy Santa costume and send her out on a supply line. I don't know why I find that so amusing.

[–] essell@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

May I suggest the use of an autohotkey script, and leave it run overnight so you always wake in the morning to a pie!

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Wouldnt have been as fulfilling if I had done something like that :p

[–] essell@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Maybe adding some roast insect as a side dish would have left you full up?

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I was unaware it was that hard to find. I've gotten one a few different times.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I also just have shit luck in general, so I'm sure that contributes as well, lol.

I just like your user handle... I too am random idiot...
