Technically, what's in this picture is a soup with no color and no density, but it clearly has a tactile texture 🀯

[–] EstonianGuy@lemm.ee 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It’s a software developer / designer joke, that texture means no texture on a 3D model

[–] lemmyartistforhire@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Technically, unless procedurally generated with nodes, there would be a normal map texture/bump texture applied to the soup to get those reflections.

Technically, i touch the screen and it smooth

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 2 points 3 weeks ago

That's an acurate description of what a normal map does. Looks more 3D without adding actual depth.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Strange. I touch my screen and it's all greasy and smudgy.

[–] muix 2 points 3 weeks ago

Or a described shape with ray marching

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

I was thinking the same - it's missing the albedo texture but it has the normal/bump map plus at the very least fixed metalicity and roughness values.

Can't be a Source-based soup, tho':

Do you drink a soup or do you eat it?

[–] ThisSeriesIsFalse@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You drink a soup, and you eat a stew.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe true for some soups but you might choke drinking chicken noodle, clam chowder, or wonton soup.

[–] ThisSeriesIsFalse@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Then clearly, chicken noodle soup is a stew. /j

Yeah, you're right, I didn't really consider those kinds of soups...

Honestly I had to look up the difference between stew and soup. What most say is with stew you start by braising meat in pot, then add other ingredients and stock. With soup start with stock and add ingredients.

Edit: out of order

I'd complain about a soup lacking taste but if i heard someone complaining about a aoup lacking texture i would go to another, further table

[–] don@lemm.ee 4 points 3 weeks ago

Tastes like checkerboard
