Not the waterline
From the official specs:
Wade Mode allows Cybertruck to enter and drive through bodies of water, such as rivers or creeks.
They say up to 31 inches, not sure that qualifies as a river, but sure whatever. The water in the picture doesn't look like 31" where it's at. Looks more like it sank in the mud and bottomed out. The Cybertruck has abysmal ground clearance as it's designed to be as shit as possible in all circumstances.
More to the point, even if the vehicle can seal completely and keep the water out, very few bodies of water that deep would be any safer to traverse in a car for other reasons. Most significant of these I think is the force of water pushing on the vehicle laterally. Claiming that a consumer vehicle can ford rivers or creeks up to 31 inches deep WILL get people killed regardless of how well the designed the vehicle. Don't drive through flowing water or even still water through which you cannot clearly see the bottom unless you're prepared for things to go very badly very fast.

What’s funny is that anyone thinks this vehicle is any good for off roading. Like look at the surface contact of the wheels, look at the curb weight, I’m sorry but it’s not going to handle anything more adverse than a gravel road well.
Is it because it’s a truck and for some reason people think all pickups are good at off-roading? Like, some are, most aren’t. Large vehicles are not better at off roading, in fact they’re usually worse without being modified or designed for the task.
Large wheels should be better for off roading. A lot of the trucks that are bad at off roading is because they are rear wheel drive and all of their weight is up front so the rear tire just slip.
People deflate their tires sometimes before driving onto sandy beaches because it will increase the surface area and help them get stuck less supposedly. I honestly can't say if that helps much. Seems like a mild change, because you don't want to drive on the rims haha
yes, but the longer the vehicle, the smaller a bump has to be to bottom it out or high center it, because the wheel distance is longer. meaning the front wheels go down the other side of the bump sooner while the back wheels aren't even on it yet.

Stuff like ground clearance, fancy differentials and all wheel drive will go a long way. But at the end of the day, all things being equal, less weight spread over more surface contact will get you a lot further. There’s a reason the old Suzuki Jimny/samuri’s are so renowned despite literally being Kai cars.

I found all the early "Took my Cybertruck off roading today!" type posts on social media hilarious. Inevitably it was a Cybertruck slowly crawling down some dirt road that a micro car could dive on without trouble.

I took that damn thing places where a Jeep or Bronco II struggled. Still my favorite car of all time.

I had a 4 cylinder 1996 Mazda Pricidia (MX-3). Front wheel drive. I guarantee you, I absolutely took that thing places a Cybercuck wouldn't be able to. Like up and down a 90km logging road, accessed from a country road another 45km from the nearest anything, to camp on the shore of a lake in the Kootenay's. I pulled the back seats and got a pal to make a wood bed in the back with storage areas and if you pushed the front seats full forward could fit a double inflatable....

Hell, I had a Familia (323) that could get pretty far out there. The boys and i would take it out on a 20 mile trail to fish and camp all weekend by a secluded lake. The local ranger (I don't know what the local terminology was for his job) gave us his number in case we ever got stuck, though we never needed it. Only once did he stop us to warn us of pretty severe washout after heavy rain. We heeded his advice and went elsewhere that weekend.
Those things are awesome, but I think they were already pretty unavailable even before Breaking Bad.

It blows my mind how active this sub is. They've barely sold any of the damn things and yet every day there are multiple new images where people have managed to wreck them.
Its an extremely heavy car, and low to the ground. Who could have possibly guessed it would be prone to get stuck in mud and not be suitable for offroad use. Its like trying to offroad in a prius.
A real truck could handle that. A decent sedan might be able to as well. 🤣

The late 80s FWD GrandAm sedan actually had amazing traction--somehow. I drove one across a wet clay farm field like this. And I watched a guy drive out of a snow covered ditch after a spinout. I would never have believed he would get out of the ditch unless I saw it myself. Must have had some sort of limited slip that actually worked
Pretty sure this is driver error. It s a fat and heavy vehicle, needs momentum to get through the mud. Just hope the momentum doesn't cause other issues.
