It's really cool that 99% of products aren't even what they say they are. Very cool to spend money on something and then get something totally different.

It doesn't matter where it's from or how much you spend either, everything is either low quality or not what it said it was.

I love capitalism

For years now I have been trying to find clothes that aren't junk. I don't have outrageous demands, I want maybe 3 tshirts, 3 blouses, and 3 pairs of jeans or other robust pants.

All I want is clothing that fits, is made of long and strong fibres, like good cotton or linen. Stitched with modest skill. I am prepared to pay for it, but I expect it to last at least 5 years regular wearing and ideally around 10.

I know this isn't ridiculous because I have clothing from 15 years ago which while worn is still more than adequate to so yard work in.

For the life of me, no matter the budget or brand, I can only find garbage quality potato sack clothing or overpriced crudely made things that are at least of somewhat acceptable weave. It is driving me crazy, I just want clothing of the same quality a farmer a century ago might have had. This is not an outrageous demand!

100%. I keep researching brands to wear, and every time there is a good one, there's someone who says, "They used to be good but their quality has really gone downhill."

the potato sacks are probably made with better materials and with better care than most fast fashion

Potato sacks are a scam anyway. Get yourself a sturdy oak barrel and an a pair of leather shoulder straps, it will last you a lifetime.

Hot take, with proper research, SheIn or China made clothes in Amazon are great and cheap

you need to be able to try clothes on...

Everything I buy now requires 5 hours of research to make sure I'm not being poisoned or scammed it's great

And it still happens sometimes

Also like 95% of the phone calls and 75% of the physical mail I receive are scams.

That's why it's worth buying shit on Aliexpress these days. You expect things to be shit so if it's better you're impressed. You also can't do much better than Aliexpress prices on wholesale so you're getting ripped off as little as possible

Years ago I bought a little hand vacuum and it said to never leave it plugged in for more than 2 hours for charging. Which I was like wtf that's dumb. So I did it immediately after it's first use I just plugged it in for charging and of course it broke. I only used the thing once and I had to throw it away.

It's so upsetting to me still.

I wish grifters had to be charming and actually flim flam me. Instead it's PAY ME OR DIE

Honestly, it sucks, but it's also helped me cut down on unnecessary purchases.

It's just a shame that even the more expensive niche clothes I save up for nowadays tends to only last 2-3 years, and occasionally even come with day 1 issues like fraying or little holes in-between seams.

I've started bulk purchasing the basics in case the quality goes down, (or the cost goes up), ever since the trade war news this year. I guess I'll see if it's worth it by the end of the year.

idk i bought a big-ass gallon vacuum flask and some UPF sleeves and gloves for work and they're pretty good
