It's really fucking good. Whole family had tears in their eyes. Bonus: arguably has some revolutionary themes.

So much kids slop is terrible. I genuinely loved this flick.

Is it different from the original and it's sequels at all? It seems like it is a shot for shot remake.

I mean, yes. But it's a clip longer than the original (I think? Been about 5 years since I saw it the first time), and the acting adds weight to the cartoon. If you saw the original the beats are the same (which were good to begin with), but it hits harder in the new one.

I dunno. Loved it. Not gonna lie.

We watched it on the hextube last night. I was also really surprised how much I enjoyed it given that I've never seen anything else in the franchise and was expecting lazy production. It was so refreshing to watch a kid's movie where the protagonist wins the day through compassion and intelligence and personal integrity.

Also I really liked Toothless' design. Less "scary giant reptile", and more "adorable living fighter jet with a heart of gold".

I felt the same way about Ne Zha 2 that film was genuinely incredible. It was more violent than I anticipated but the kid was old enough for it. I actually want to watch it again by myself super blazed lol.

did they significantly change the soundtrack? this was one of the main strengths of the original and it seems like they shot-for--shot redid a lot of the remake, so i assume they'd stay pretty close

Don't recall the soundtrack from the original.

The music in this one is great.

A main theme so good, Civ 5 had to steal it

Good to hear. My partner is pretty psyched about it. On that matter, anything in that flick that struck you as a bit strobey?

[–] DickFuckarelli@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Strobey? Maybe the dragon den scenes.

Not really anything comes to mind.

Thanks for the info.

Wait for "chicken jockey!". Or the continuous "LA LA LA lava! Chi chi chi chicken!... Uhh mamacita now you're ringing the bell"

[–] DickFuckarelli@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My child goes around the house singing this. I was out of the country when my fam went to see Minecraft and I feel like I dodged a bullet.
