It's so weird how people liken themselves to Midas as a flex. Like, the whole point of the story was an obsession with wealth causing terrible consequences to other people and isolating Midas from other living things (and also starving him). iirc he turns his own daughter into a gold statue by accident.
I agree. It's an odd name. In any case - three brothers with the surname Meiselas founded it. And their mother's maiden name was Golden.
The group name and slogan come from their mother and father, combining their surname and their mother's maiden name, Golden, alluding to the mythological Greek king Midas known for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold.
