Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Old saying:

He who knows not, and knows not he knows not, is a fool; shun him.
He who knows not, and knows he knows not, is simple; teach him.
He who knows, and knows not he knows, is asleep; awaken him.
He who knows, and knows he knows, is wise; follow him.

I feel like there should be one more line and a change:

He who knows, and knows he knows, is smart; beware him.

He who knows, and know he knows not, is wise; follow him

Whoa.....this is why he became the one. He became self aware, and then he got an office job later in his 30s.

It's really not hard to just turn all of his characters into one man's story. John Wick is Neo after he retired back into the Matrix

One who knows not, and know they know not is wise. If you claim to know, you're either making stuff up or using a nonrigorous definition of knowledge.

I think I'm an knows not, knows. Unfortunately all of my bosses are knows not, knows nots.

Remember folks: being willing and able to admit when you are wrong is much more important and powerful than simply being right

I'm lucky to know I'm a smart dumb person, because

  1. I know several, and have encountered many, truly smart people.
  2. I've known a great many clever dumb people.
  3. I know my father, and believe genetics is a strong influencer (not determiner).

Is stupid stupid an option?

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

For many, it's the ONLY option.

If ignorance is bliss, I'm the happiest man on Earth!

if we define smart people to be anyone smarter than you, and stupid people to be anyone stupider than you, then it's actually both. Or neither. idk

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Schrodingers dumbass.

All I know is that I'm seriously disappointed to be the smartest person in a room on a regular basis.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Have you tried leaving your room?

Prep the burn unit, they're going to need an escharotomy after that third degree burn.

[–] Windex007@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Of you don't know anyone you could be both

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 4 days ago

And then you'd also be the smartest smart person and dumbest dumb person.

Easy I am the smartest person I know because I don't know myself very well.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 2 points 4 days ago
