Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

walter-yell HANK ITS THE IMMUNE DEFICIENCY FOUNDATION HAAAAANK

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 21 points 5 days ago (4 children)

I have heard that he refuses to have Hasan on his podcast again because he's "too political", but has had pewdiepie, a nazi, on twice. Nice that he's raising money for his friend, I suppose, but I don't think this is someone worth supporting.

[–] MizuTama@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

He has had Hassan on two, but for that episode, basically did a both sides things and was fueled by the "one piece isn't political," nonsense and him not wanting the very angry right wingers to mess up his cash flow.

Edit: Doubling back on this for a mini rant, the gigguk portion of that media analysis actually pissed me off far more than Cdawgs. Everything I've seen about the latter has inclined me to believe reasonably he'd miss the media messaging but having watched Gigguk since childhood it feels like strong willful ignorance to outright deception about missing those themes on his part.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Does gigguk have good stances? I avoid anime channels like the plague because the people hosting them to be....well, rats.

[–] MizuTama@hexbear.net 3 points 5 days ago

Not good stances per se but he tends to engage well with media and be decent with theme recognition (and is even working on producing his own anime) when he isn't shitposting about liking isekai (I have similar tastes in trashy media so can't hold it against him). He's definitely showed the capabilities that tend to be able to pick up on political themes imo so it's likely an ideological block.

I think the scariest thing about them deciding not to have Hassan on again because of their fanbase, is how fucking repulsive the fanbase must be. I mean Hasan can go on Theo Von with almost no fallout.

I'll edit this in but that was when I realized you never want to be labeled as either an anime fan or gamer. Probably the two most reactionary and off putting communities on Earth

[–] BynarsAreOk@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I don't want to defend the guy, but yeah there is a difference PDP is a Gamer, Hasan is definitely not. Apart from sharing some interest in Japan I don't think there is any overlap between them. Hasan even used to stream games but stopped like 6 months ago or something, he doesn't even stream games anymore.

I don't think he means "political" as in "I disagree with him" honestly, I've seen him openly shit on his own western-white brit culture numerous times. Maybe its self depracating humor, but that is not what right wing does at all. I just think if that is true(I don't watch Trash Taste) its probably because Hasan is not realy a weeb or a gamer so its not ideal.

Additionaly if you haven't noticed, he is someone who very much built a brand around calling himself dumb, "monkey" etc... I don't think right wingers do that to themselves lol even as a meme.

[–] camaron30@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago

He has had Hasan twice already and has done several streams with him. The reason why he refuses to have him more is because the Hasan haters will flood his socials with annoying nonsense and he/they don't want another month-long struggle session.

Like, i would love it if he had Hasan more, but i understand why a non-political creator would rather skip all the drama and weirdos that would appear.

FF 6 is definitely best

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Get baited.

This isn't even the first time I've seen talk of CDawg's support for "the IDF" and every single time it's like "BE MORE SPECIFIC", the fact that you ACKNOWLEDGE that you might give somebody an aneurysm hahahahah

Also he's legendary because how many welsh people do you even know?

Well there's Mal Pope who wrote the Fireman Sam and Joshua Jones theme songs, there's Dafydd Iwan who wrote "Yma o Hyd", there's Rob Brydon who hosts Would I Lie To You?, there's Terry Jones of Monty Python, and there's... uh... uh... hm. George Everest, I guess? I'm gonna be honest I didn't even remember that he was Welsh. Actually, come to think of it, Mal Pope made a musical about a Welsh boxer, what was his name? Tommy Farr, apparently.

...Neopets and the wearable electronic hearing aid were both invented by Welshmen, huh? Neat.

[Starts shouting stereotypical Welsh names followed by numbers, hoping they were the names of one ancient king or another]

I know of Saint David's Cross, so I'm guessing Saint David was probably Welsh.

Wow, a lot of Welshmen were in prominent boomer rock bands and whatever!... Oh, Ffa Coffi Pawb, I heard about them, too! Can't name any of their members, though...

...And that's it.

Bonnie Tyler just eclipsed your heart

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 4 points 5 days ago

Ryan Giggs and Elfyn Evans, although we probably shouldn't talk about the former on account of his assault charges.

[–] casskaydee@hexbear.net 3 points 5 days ago

Isn't Michael Sheen Welsh?

Regnal number wasn't a thing in Wales historically, so that wouldn't work.

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Aren't there some old Welsh royals who have been given retroactive regnal numbers, though? Even if they didn't have regnal numbers when they were alive.

[–] WittyProfileName2@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Not as far as I'm aware, but I might be wrong

There are plenty of Princes/Princesses of Wales (English Royal family title) with regal numbers, though.

Edit: Edward II, was an English king but was born in Caernarfon before being raised in England, so depending on how you define Welsh that could count. I personally wouldn't count it, but some people do.

He is one of those Japan permanent tourists but not nearly as big a weeb as the average one. Except for the JP VA training-tour thing he did once(very interesting btw) he doesn't particularly cares for anime or weeb culture, except Jojo so based.

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

He's just one of the lads abroad in japan

Travel influencers. Loathsome.

Also, I don't trust any of them nowadays.

[–] Comrade_Mushroom@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago

It'll never happen but I would love to see an FF7 Remake style remake for FF6.

Fft was and is my favorite.

"The gods have no eyes for chattel" never ceases to boil my blood.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago

"The gods have no eyes for chattel" never ceases to boil my blood.

Apparently that's a retranslation; the original is much worse. Apparently (I never played the game; I looked up the quote) a woman says (to a guard?) that "in the eyes of the gods, all men are equal" and the response is "Animals have no gods" in reference to commoners.

I was about to yell: "Ironmouse, NOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Don't scare me like that!
