because a meetup would be a lemmon party.

[-] TellumSiege@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

"Can't have a Lemon party without old Dick."

[-] queermunist@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

But then what does /c/ mean?

If we're lemmings, then these are /c/liffs

[-] Machefi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago
[-] queermunist@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

... okay that's pretty good

I'll be a lemming and run off /c/liffs, but you lemmons can post on /c/itrusses if you want lol

That’s a myth. Well. The suicide part. It was started because the normal lemming run wasn’t “dramatic” enough, and in any case, Lemmings don’t really run on cue, so Disney caught a bunch of lemmings and threw them over the cliff using a turntable for a white Wilderness (Like you know those spinning fertilizer or salt spreaders? It was like that. But with lemmings.)

Normally, lemmings make short hops to get down safely.

(Though for the record that was a really fun video game.)

Lemmon, it's Wednesday.

[-] giacomo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I like fediots.

[-] Moonburger@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

I would say since there isn’t a singular instance we can see these posts from, instead of being Lemmings/Kbinners/whatever, we call ourselves “Federales” due to the federated nature of the servers.

[-] MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Some grey federales say, they could a had him any day

They only let him slip away out of kindness I suppose

[-] hanj@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

yoo van zandt, nice
But yeah agree, federales is already a word and an ill-fitting one.

[-] Squibbles@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Just don't ask me to join the lemon party. Not falling for that one again

[-] livus@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

That "again" has me chuckling.

[-] Malisu19997@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

We call ourselves lemmings? That's new information to me, though I guess it would make sense. Lemons is better though.

[-] Ataraxia@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I'm sure it's supposed to be lemurs, but really it's lemmongs.

[-] Ataraxia@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No wait... lemmites. Sorry.

[-] TheInsane42@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

When I have to pick between a cute furry rodent or a sour fruit... I know what I'd pick.

When life throws you a lemon, you hurl it back as fast as you can and cuddle a lemming.

[-] Erk@cdda.social 3 points 1 year ago

You're clearly operating in some kind of made up world. Lemmings is amazing.

[-] CIWS-30@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Because lemmings are cute. Lemons are just something you squeeze the juice out of to make lemonade or just lemon water to clean your liver.

[-] Niello@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Imo, Lemmons make about as much sense as callling Kbin users Kbabs.

[-] Vengefu1Tuna@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

You say that as if it's a bad thing. Kbab is a fantastic name!

[-] jerome@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

lemmon party?

[-] Wage_Slave@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Internet history and lore dictates that Lemons are something to distance yourself from an internet stand point.

It would be on par with using goatsee as the mascot, only more experienced and three of them are having a party.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I knew a lawyer-lady who was, technically, a “Miss Lemmon”.

She really hated my shitty Hercule Perot accent.

Can’t really blame her on that. Fortunately I only cracked the joke once.

[-] rm_dash_r_star@lemmyonline.com 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I have yet to call myself a lemming as a lemmy user, but I have no objection. It's kind of satirical and amusing because in the USA when you call someone a lemming, it means they're part of the normie crowd, i.e. going to the public pool with all the lemmings or going to the lake on labor day with all the lemmings. We're doing the opposite here. We are definitely not the lemmings, they're on corporate social media.

[-] th0th_Q@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Lemmy’s actual mascot is a Lemming so far as I know.

[-] Candelestine@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I like the self-aware jab. It amuses me.

[-] BarbecueCowboy@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I've always been a fan of Lemmonites.

[-] nicman24@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

since we are more than lemmy users lets just call ourselfs the feds

[-] axtualdave@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago
[-] Restaldt@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Mind if i google myself in your office?

[-] axtualdave@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Of course, go ahead!

[-] andyMFK@reddthat.com -1 points 1 year ago

Unpopular opinion, but having a name for someone who uses Lemmy is pretty cringe. under what context could you possibly use it and not sound like an idiot? At a party are you asking someone if they are a lemming/lemmon? They're gonna look at you like wtf are you talking about.

It has big "the narwhal bacons at midnight" vibes

[-] Kara@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I agree with this, most social medias don't have these kinds of names for general people, sure people who make Youtube videos are Youtubers, but people who watch youtube videos are not Youtubites or something. We can just be Lemmy users, or Kbin users

[-] NeonWoofGenesis@kek.henlo.fi 1 points 1 year ago

Never have i seen the term "redditor" not be used in a inflammatory context. I think lemming would quickly be associated negatively due to the actions of some small group and then be generalized to all lemmy users.

[-] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It helps with posts a bit. Being able to say "fellow lemmings..." or "as a lemming..." I wouldn't use it in real life though.

[-] Cna@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

Lemming (verb): the act of doing lemmy Lemm-on (noun): having erected lemmy. So only instance owners can be called lemmons. The correct term for the rest of us is: Lemmer (noun): someone who does lemmy
