Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I was hoping that it was a golden statue of Donald Trump, that would have been much cooler and much more appropriate for kissing the feet of the King.

If you buy Apple products for some reason I can't fathom, remember this: some of your money will have paid for a golden statue for Donald Trump.

I wouldn't feel good holding that iPhone in my hand knowing that...

Could you direct us to some ethically sourced smartphones?

Oh, wow thank you this looks rad actually. Notable for US users: it appears to only work with T-mobile

[–] DivineDev@piefed.social 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Fairphone is most well known ethical manufacturer, then there's also Shiftphone.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Only work on T-Mobile and they aren't an ethical company.

[–] griff@lemmings.world 1 points 9 months ago

or flippin flip phones

And pretty much everything else you buy benefits slave labor in china or elsewhere. You literally can’t escape it. Apple is not the sole problem here.

[–] Goodmorningsunshine@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

There's no sole company to blame for global issues, but you can sure as hell stop consuming products from companies who so openly and shamelessly bend the knee to the fascist Trump.

[–] TheAgeOfSuperboredom@lemmy.ca 4 points 9 months ago

That's a constant across all of digital technology. So the only way to avoid it is to not use the technology.

But if you do, buying Apple means you are supporting the base level slave labour in China + support for Trump + a locked in ecosystem + a cycle of planned obsolescence. There are other products you can buy that subtract from this equation and may add in some benefits.

We have such limited agency, and nothing will change instantly, so we have to make the best choices we can to push people to do better.

what a cuck

[–] Goodmorningsunshine@lemmy.world 19 points 9 months ago

I've never been more glad to have never given Apple a penny.

Cook is well known for his ability to foster a relationship with President Trump

Cook is Trump's token gay friend.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 17 points 9 months ago

A seditious pedophile gets a trophy while the rest of us can’t afford housing.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 9 points 9 months ago

everyone should call Tim Cook a real Ernst Röhm. hopefully ends with a similar fate.

[–] scaramobo@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 9 months ago

What a nice gesture of Tim Apple for his friend who couldn't even remember his name right.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 months ago

Really stretching the definition of statue with that.

[–] MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca 6 points 9 months ago

It was a gold bar with a fucking piece of plastic. It was a literal bribery.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 5 points 9 months ago

This was a thank you for not being federally charged while they were fucking their customers phone batteries up from afar, so they could sell more phones. Fuck apple!

[–] Tronn4@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

We can all hear the dik sucking from apples offices

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

On a non related note does anyone know if anyone manufactures trump shaped anal dildos?

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Probably, but they're likely to be unironic pro-trump.

[–] miked@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 months ago

I did the search. Etsy has a selection.

Assuming that gold bar that's used as the base is actually 24k gold and it isn't just gold plated, how much would it be worth?

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 9 months ago

If it's 1lb of solid gold, then about $28,200
