Preposterous! There's no point in imagining it because Good Guys don't lose, good guys never lose! I have extensive education in military history: I watched all the movies about D-Day and the Western Front and Midway, and I've seen every single episode of G.I. Joe. Good guys always win in the long run!

Don't forget the 100% accurate film Enemy at the Gates, and the Soviet missions in the Call of Duty games, which make you an expert on the USSR's military contribution to WWII.

good guys never lose

You know, many Americans genuinely think the good guys won every war of the 20th century that the US was involved in

Sometimes they are even accidentally correct, like Vietnam, good guys indeed won that one.

[-] Eat_Yo_Vegetables69@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 year ago

B-but the good guys always win in star wars, LOTR, Avengers etc. !!11

Obviously to even suggest that the war will end in anything but the total surrender of Russia to ~~the United States~~ ~~NATO~~ Ukraine is total Putin propaganda. The audacity of this person to even suggest it! The entire site should be blacklisted in the name of freedom.

I have it on good authority that by this time next week, Russia will be surrendering. Incidentally, China will also collapse on the same day.

Lol, unimaginable? Can anyone imagine a country the size of Ukraine defeating a country the size of Russia?

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 29 points 1 year ago

apparently a lot of western liberals can, I guess that's what happens when you get your education exclusively from reading harry potter

[-] DesiDebugger@lemmygrad.ml 25 points 1 year ago

Once you huff enough corporate media you can imagine anything they say.

Vietnam beat the US, not really the soundest argument.

[-] Effort0499@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 1 year ago

Vietnam had a righteous cause to fight for. Ukraine meanwhile is fighting to be a fascist puppet of the USA.

[-] commiewolf@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 year ago

No doubt, just pointing out that:

“It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.”

Vietnam doesn't share a land border with the USA nor were they fighting a conventional war.

[-] commiewolf@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 year ago

Neither was Iraq though. Yet they managed to destroy it nonetheless. Either way It's more complex than the size of the countries involved, especially in modern warfare.

[-] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

The US's goal was to occupy the country, annex its natural resources, and rebuild the country with private contractors. These are not the goals of Russia in Ukraine

[-] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 year ago

Nicholas 2 and Russo-Japanese war. Different situation, I know

[-] lorty@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

By that logic, Russia should have annexed Ukraine by now.

[-] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Russia isn't trying to annex Ukraine.

[-] deathtoreddit@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

By that logic, Ukraine should've taken back Crimea...

[-] Effort0499@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 1 year ago

Sooner or later, I don't see how this will end in anything other than a Russian victory. I can't wait to see the look on neoliberal faces.

[-] ghost_of_faso2@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 year ago

what will happen is the UKO troops will sacrafice 100k+ troops in order to secure a 0.5km stretch of land, US says 'wars over' they put this on the frontpage of all news papers and everyone goes home

[-] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 year ago

I mean, there's still plenty of people claiming that US had won in Afghanistan, Iraq, even Vietnam.

On the other hand, the powers that be seem pretty darn dedicated to prolonging this slaughter as long as humanely possible, and to hell with escalation

[-] Ildsaye@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

They will revise their memories and carry on as if they always knew the things that later came to light, just like with every other highly profitable national disgrace

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

It will be another "if only there was even more money and tech magic thrown into the pit it would have been a win" cope

Wine cave warriors can't accept defeat. They just find a new angle to be condescending and look down on others.

[-] lorty@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 year ago

This article, despite the title and conclusion, still regurgitates liberal brainrot every other sentence.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 year ago

If it didn't then it would never get published.
