Interesting. The Purges are starting from the inside, this time.

It took Hitler 1 year to get there. And he had already hunted down the opposition.

Trump has been there for 7 months and hasn't sent any prominent members of the opposition to jail AFAIK.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Bolton became his opposition after Trump's first term. They aren't going straight to executions, but they are starting to take action on the dissenters.

Ok. So, same as usual, I guess 🤷

But large amounts of the American population have been Nazi-adjecent at the very least since its conception...

This is how fasicsm fails, they turn on everyone until no one is left.

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Or how it consolidates under a more unified ideology. E.g. the Nazis purging the SA during the Night of the Long Knives.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

In the short term sure, but they keep going and replacing anyone competent with yes men.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Depending on what example you're looking at, that "short-term" can be anywhere from years to decades.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 8 months ago

That’s why we have to fight it.

To encourage the others.

Bolton has been to the "outside" of Trump for some time. This is a case of the administration going after enemies.

[–] SebaDC@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 8 months ago

Thanks for the information. So the purges start with the dissidents, as usual 🤦🏻‍♂️

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 23 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Some of these comments. Damn. Do y'all not understand that Trump and Bolton have been at each other's throat for quite some time?

This isn't face eating, this is a clear attack on a political enemy. That's the takeaway, and you should be chilled to the bone.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Sure, but this guy is a total clown so at least we have that.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 months ago

Who do they come for first, who will be next. How long before your turn comes

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I hate Bolton's politics as much as the next guy, but he's no dipshit. I so hoped he would bring sanity to the first Trump administration, and that's why he got fired.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Yeah, man. The leopard’s eating bolton’s face.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 21 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Wasn't Bolton one of the ones who told us to stop overreacting, there were plenty of adults in the room? We said they wouldn't be there forever and he ignored us.

Where are the adults now, Bolton?

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 16 points 8 months ago

Busy raping children and not releasing the documents about it.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 15 points 8 months ago (2 children)

What are the odds one of these former Trump advisors held on to a little bit of insurance for re-retaliation?

God I hope someone thought that far ahead.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Bad stuff comes out about Trump all the time, and it bounces right off. People already know he's awful, and half the country likes it that way.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Very true. Who knows if there even is anything that they wouldn't just reject or wave away.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Is that not what the FBI was raiding his house to look for?

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Sure sounds like it.

[–] barkingspiders@infosec.pub 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The raids are part of a “national security investigation in search of classified records,” a person familiar with the matter told NBC.

The probe is eyeing multiple instances of the use of classified documents in leaks to the news media. The investigation began during the Biden administration, but did not go further before President Joe Biden left office in January.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

Wouldn’t want former politicians hanging on to confidential files.
