[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago

Because he's a LIB

Interesting how it will affect her trotskyist party (revolutionary workers).

I otoh welcome my Trotskyist overlords if they’re actually doing shit and not just being nerds.

I’ll take a Trot 10/10 times over a leftlib, demsuckkkdem, or wjatever the fuck we’ve got going on around us

never forget trotsky gave us armored tanks

Ngl I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion, maybe I’m just ignorant or an actual liability, but I find it kind of hard to get bent out of shape about Trots or Trotskyism. Leon was really annoying, and yeah he did undermine the USSR in the end and his theory became a federal op, but he also built and was the leader of the Red Army during the civil war. Enough said.

Trots are fine in theory but then they come out to every fucking event and ruin it by being the biggest UM ACKCHUALLY nerds on the planet while pretending they're the only real communists. If they would shut the fuck up and work together with everyone else nobody would have a problem with them

Uhm aktually tru com can only be achieved if a developed nation becomes communist

Yeah, that must get grating quick

The point is not to hate on Trotsky, the point is that trotskyist orgs are disconnected from the workers, irrelevant and incapable of any mass mobilization. Ideologically trots hate on every AES state because to them only a "global revolution" is valid socialism. So they don’t ever have to challenge western narratives about authoritarianism etc.

Thinking Trotsky is solely responsible for the successes of the Red Army is lib great man theory and erases the contributions of everyone else involved

if i were a trotskyist I'd call myself an armored tankie

[–] starkillerfish@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

I appreciate her confronting the dems directly

The rally was great, got to attend in person. Really refreshing to be in a room of people that generally agree with your core political values without any of the typical career seeking theatrics.

Im talking with the Revolutionary Workers party people tomorrow afternoon about their org, I've seen some criticisms but im curious what the vibe is with them to the other users here?

[–] starkillerfish@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

For one the rev workers are super super new (like one year old basically). And then they follow a trotskyist line, which usually means they are anti-AES. Because the party is so young I haven’t seen how their line manifests in practice, so I’m in the wait and see mode. One thing that makes me a bit sceptical also is that the party seems to revolve around Kshama as a political figure, which can be a problem long term.

[–] Antiwork@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It sucks. They're awful. She refuses to build a socialist org that brings others to positions of leadership, it's all cult of personality

[–] starkillerfish@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

What is it with the Pacific Northwest and cult of personality socialist orgs

[–] Pergoss@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

There was a time when her former group was running multiple candidates, but it didn't work out

[–] Jaclope@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

Thanks for the viewpoint I appreciate it. I'll definitely bring up some concerns about the focus on Sawant, especially since the party is seemingly against career politican types. I did really like Sawant when she was on city council here back in the 2010's, so I'm interested

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago
