Stupid corporate vultures. He had good videos and if anything was promoting F1.
Notably, he did a fair amount of calling Liberty Media/local broadcasters out for not showing the good racing on the live broadcast; most of the time his channel was the only reason I saw many on track battles, or even knew about them.
His channel has some of the best content and will be missed by F1 fans.
Yeah, this is the kind of content that keep people hooked and passionate about the sport, whereas โofficialโ content plainly sucks.

I realise my comment seemed sarcastic - it's not, I'm being genuine; this desperate corporate grasping is so infuriating.
It's like they feel threatened that any amateur could do analysis and offer a better product in that field than they could.

the behavior is obviously bullshit. large companies are nearly always headed by opportunistic people who are either full blown narcissistic personality disordered or at least have a good amount of symptoms ya know? rat fuckin bastards.

I wish that cross posting between YouTube and something like peer tube would just become common. I know monetizing is an issue but it would be nice to go watch content workout without fear of it disappearing into the aether.
That's a bummer for sure. I did wonder how they managed to get away with using all that footage... Definitely a gap in the market for this kind of analysis.
I mean, legally they didn't "get away" with anything. Their content is pretty much the textbook definition of fair use. The problem is copyright enforcement doesn't really care about that, especially on YouTube. If Yelistener took this to court he would win the case guaranteed, but can they afford the legal fees?

Fair use is a US concept, F1 is a British company so they most likely don't legally recognize this as valid.

FOG is a British company.
The British equivalent is fair dealing, and if matey monetised their channel thereโs no chance. Likewise if they circumvented DRM to get the footage. FOM charges vast sums to broadcasters for highlights rights, and using it for free undermines that market so again no fair dealing.

There's many gaps, but Liberty won't allow anyone to fill them. The complexity of the cars compared to the content us proles get fed is madness.
