What's telling is that this is a late article and no one said shit about international men's day.

Again.

Even men don't care about the day.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, I'm not international so...

Nice try, Pitbull. We all know it’s you!

We have Mr. Worldwide at home

[–] user224 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Thanks for explaining the joke.

Edit: I see, that I don't see something. It didn't click that Pitbull also goes by Mr. Worldwide, so the joke didn't make sense until I read the comment above.

The day that does more to remind men what being valued looks like than men's day does.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Honestly, I know very few international men.

[–] Bennyboybumberchums@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I only know one. And hes also a mystery...

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 month ago

maybe if women asked about women's day on men's day then men would know about men's day

[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 15 points 1 month ago

There should be 'intentional men's day', for FTM people.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 1 month ago

I don't complain because I like women

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Isn’t international men’s day everyday?

Most of my leaders in the public sector are men. Most of my leaders in the private sector are men. Most of the celebrated scientists are men. Most of the celebrated artists are men. Most of the statues around me, are statues of men. Most of the wealthiest people in the world are men.

What contributions, beyond the sciences/humanumities and historic achievements, do other men want celebrated? How, beyond wealth/power and immortality, would those men like it to be celebrated?

International Women's Day is March 8. I had to look that up, but I'm confident that HR at my workplace will send out an email that week as they do every year.

Interesting that people feel like they're trolling people by asking a question there actually is a factual answer for as if it's underlining some unfairness. Doesn't work the same way as if there is not answer for the question. Actually shouldn't you be happy you have a factual answer when someone trolls you with "When's International Men's Day?"

Also HR didn't notify me of International Men's Day this week as they always do for International Women's Day. The post above is the first I've heard of it. But thanks for letting me know this exists!

If an International Men's day was completely non-controversial, there would be no need for it.

The fact that there is controversy indicates that there probably should be a day for discussion about it. I mean there isn't much point to any International X Day, but if there's a value for X that would be upsetting for some people, then maybe would should have a day for that to discuss why that is? People are writing articles and we're discussing it right now, and there is value to that.

So why is it controversial to have an International Men's Day?
