Oh yeah Hitler apparently admired a lot of American policies. Especially segregation. Which the US still had when they supposedly conquered fascism. (And years and years more, decades really) And then took a bunch of Nazi scientists, lol.
But yeah, at least for several decades it was on the backburner and when Obama was president I was actually hopeful.

Nazi's used the US law structures to craft anti-semetic laws.
Trump already declared the cause of extremist violence is gender views. "threads animating this violent conduct include ... extremism on migration, race, and gender" [EO: Countering Domestic Terrorism] .
We're a short step away from the Democratic Party being declared a terrorist organization.
Obviously, the awfulness of these people sickens me but sometimes the sheer stupidity comes across as worse

"Cash Bounties" seems to be the GOP go-to in a country that's increasingly impoverished and facing mounting inflation in cost-of-living. Quite literally paying one half of the poor to kill the other half.
Folks kick around "when does the US Civil War start?" both in jest and in anxiety. But we're getting into real Fugitive Slave Act territory with this kind of policy. Between ICE Agents racing around to hit deportation quotas and anti-Abortion Bounty Hunters getting introduced across the Gulf Coast, we really are barrelling towards the AnCap privatized police force meme.

I do not want to by a weapon but each day it seems I am getting closer.
Do it, its actually a very fun hobby (although it can get expensive). Spending an hour at the range is an awful lot like bowling or mini golf. There is a lot of skill involved and you get to go down the rabbit hole of choosing the best equipment.
I'd recommend asking around your group if anyone is going to the range soon and see if you can tag along. There are way more liberal gun owners than you can imagine, and everyone of them would love to take you on your first range trip.
Before you go, make sure you memorize the 4 rules.

I swear I was saying they'd pivot to bounties to target outgroups early in this administration. The people I said it to didn't believe me. Lo and behold, here we are. Floating the idea to test the appetite for it. Then probably remove or sideline people opposed to it internally, and then move forward with implementing it.
I'm tired of my cynical ass being right on matters of things getting worse.
