Me: "Oh shit, he's going through the Darien Gap"

Wife: "What's the Darien Gap?"

Me: "Hoo boy, you're about to find out"

spoilerManousos begging to pay for lifesaving healthcare in a post-currency world is peak bootlicker. I am, once again, team eatdeadpeople.

It's interesting that Carol used to obsess about what people thought of her book, where it was in the ranks of top sellers. Now she only has to please one person in order to literally please the whole world. If she had learned that sooner with Helen, she may have been happier. That's literally the thing Helen told her.

Next week is hard to gauge. I hope it's not really tragic with Manny losing his temper and hurting Zosia. Maybe Carol teams up with Manny and they kidnap Zosia to take her to the caves, which cuts her off from the hive. This would also track with the new chapter of White Caro. A left-field guess is that there will be a second signal discovered at the very end.

Sorry, I know its a typo, but White Caro is hilarious.

After this I'm not as hopeful anymore that they're going somewhere interesting with how the hivemind works. Like its a big individual, not, you know, a hive.

GOOD ep, one I can say I finally enjoyed.

spoilerAfter last week's episode which felt like montages of scenery and sets as stand-in for character development, this ep I really enjoyed seeing Carol and Zosia just hanging out, with the unsettling undertone of worrying how much Carol is being distracted/manipulated. Carol's personality, conflicting desires and motivations really churned under the surface of every scene. I just want them both to be happy tho

Am I the only one that was disappointed in the whole romantic/sex scene?

spoilerNot being horny-brained, but I wanted to see how the collective reacted to pleasure/stimulation. Did everyone in the auditorium just start getting their freak on? Was there an accident when someone else got overwhelmed at the intense sensation? The whole thing just went by in a snap then it was over.

Carol confirmed neurodivergent. The giant antenna is going to be a central plot point. What happened to the Las Vegas creep?

spoilerDuring the massage scene Zosia explained that the individual feels sensation but the hive only gets information. A plurb that gets hurt will feel pain while the hive only learns of the event. This would explain why Zosia can drink and be drugged without the whole hive feeling it too. So when they have sex, only Zosia actually feels it. The whole world knows their business though.

This doesn't explain why strong negative emotions hurt the whole hive though. I guess the show is treating psychic pain or negativity as separate from the physical, so it gets distributed among the plurbs.

spoilerRight, I obviously saw that part, but feeling the "sensation" from a massage is a LONG way off from an orgasm. The pain part is what I was trying to connect, but in the other direction obviously. Even if the whole world can't "feel" it, you'd think it would at least give everyone a smile, you know?

It kind of made me wonder if the fact that they still bother with clothes at all is a show production issue rather than a rational decision of the hive mind.

[–] bigpharmasutra@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

Well I have to imagine they still feel sensations like cold and hot. They obviously feel discomfort as everyone going to sleep was taking their shoes off.
