I remember when Russia cut itself off from the internet for like 3 days, and virtually every social media site I frequented was a lot calmer and nicer for those days. It was surreal seeing how fucking much of the internet is just Russia.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
Not only that, but these two users post with the same pattern: 4-5 posts in a burst and then staying quiet.
Virtually every major outlet for the right wing is, in some way shape or form, controlled by fascist foreign actors. Especially Russia.
All the dumb-fuck faux leftists supporting Russia over Ukraine, claiming Ukraine has a major Nazi problem, need to open their fucking eyes and see Russia is the biggest exporter of Nazism world wide.
the best part of all of it..is the reveal twitter had a couple weeks ago, where they put access location and registration location as publicly visible..for all of 5 minutes, revealing the fact that most big head conservative twitter accounts are foreign controlled psyop/propaganda outlets.
Crazy how the right wing just absolutely ignores that 98% of all the big totally patriotic american twitter accounts telling them what to do and how to feel come from russia, belarus, etc etc.
Russia is capitalist, fascist and an aggressor state, yet it's loved by some communists. It makes no sense.
Because those aren't actual communists, they're tankies.
Tabkies don't have any actual principles, let alone any beliefs whatsoever.
Their beliefs are solely anti-West and that is it. It doesn't matter what contradictions or outright lies they must embrace. As long as the narrative is anti-West, they're 100% on board.
Surprising to nobody who isn't a conservative.
reminds me of in 2017 and 2022 when reddit did a big prune of identified russian bot accounts and people on r/conservative were ponderous about why it had gotten so quiet
Conservative used to actually be kind of split. I remember back in the day, maybe around 2010 or so, could have been later, there were a bunch of people who said things like the state staying out of marriage is a conservative position. I guess more of the libertarian type folks but still, it was more ideologically diverse back then.
That ideological diversity did not just fade on its own. Over the past decade it has been actively pruned away. Spaces like r/conservative now routinely permaban anyone who steps outside an approved line, including the kind of libertarian arguments that used to be common. What remains is a tightly controlled echo chamber that presents itself as grassroots discussion while functioning more like propaganda. Given that shift, it is hard to take it seriously as a place for real conservative debate.
The brand of wackadoo on /r/Conspiracy used to be different, too. Less hostile and agenda-pushy, just sort of anything that didn't belong in /r/UFOs or whatever. Now it's just /r/Conservative with no filter.
That change was actually really sad to see. Conspiracy used to actually have some fun conspiracies, even if most were ultimately a bit too outlandish or unprovable. Now it's just your standard deep-state conspiracy shit.
Algorithmic flattening comes for us all.

Everyone who isn't a current /r/conservative user already knows this.
It’s direct from the Russian playbook: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_generation_warfare
Maybe 30% - 50% of content on any subreddit is bots / shills?
Dead internet theory and all that.
It certainly seems like the same old comments over and over on reddit these days...
50% actually, its growing i suspect.
It's probably happeneing here on Lemmy, too. Granted, I can be abrasive, but the lovely mods here delete my posts almost every time I engage with a fucking stinking Yuri bot.
It's worse here. At least r/conservative is just bots. There are plenty of idiots here who proudly spew Russian propaganda
It’s definitely happening. /c/conservative on most instances is just farmed posts.
Yet another reason to support Ukraine, maybe they'll knock out Moscow's power more often.
thats just conservative media as a whole its a psyop to make people not pay attention to real issues by distracting gullible people by making them believe silly conservative ideas that ultimately end up biting them in the ass later. Its just business to these outlets and influencers, theyre paid by how good they are at painting a picture even if it isnt backed up at all by reality.
The title is misleading at best. I'm sure 30-50% of the content are bots, but the link to Moscow is... let's say tenuous. There is no good source for a blackout in Moscow, only in a minor city (100k inhabitants) of the Moscow area called Zhukovsky according to one of the comments in the post. Russia is a country with 150 million inhabitants, searching for blackouts anywhere in the country on one event of reduced bot activity isn't real science, and doesn't point to any kind of causation.
Further down in the post, if you read it, you can even see OP was using problematic methodology and had to point to another post. You're literally just going by the words of a random reddit user at this point. This is conspiracy theory level shit, guys, you can do better than this.
Edit: link to the corrected reddit post by the same user. Look at the fifth graph provided. Amazing that 350 people upvoted this conspiracy shit, you guys have a serious problem over at .world
Edit 2: @BoycottTwitter@lemmy.zip do you have anything to reply at all to this? Don't you think your post is disinformation, or at least the title?
Dollar for dollar it seems like it might be cheaper to bribe trump with bitcoins than run an internet disinfo campaign. But what do I know?
It's not about Trump. Presidents come and go, but the population and society stays for the next election and the next president.
Are you telling me that we live in a society?
