/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

War on Christmas.

They’ve been begging for it anyway.

Oddly enough, my go-to place for Chinese food is closed today. I was wanting some teriyaki chicken, but instead I'm going to have reheated pizza...

There is an independent green grocer run by a Muslim near my parents place and you can always tell who the local racist boomers are because they will

A. Complain the shop is closed on Muslim holidays and
B. Complain that the store is open on Christmas while buying last minute things because they are the only place open.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

It's remarkable how consistent Boomers are as a cohort. Regardless of state, and even internationally, Boomers can generally always be relied upon to queue up as the worst sort of people.

B. definitely boggles my mind...you're complaining at the people who are open on Xmas for being open.

I live in a city of ~4 million. I love how quiet the city is today.

Going to go ride my bike and enjoy the utter lack of people trying to murder me with their rolling death machines.

Oh that's brilliant, didn't even think of the fact. It is ridiculously warm so I think I will go out on my bike too.

The snark is really not warranted. If you can't survive for a single holiday by yourself, you need to get your shit together.

[–] SatyrSack@quokk.au 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The "you don't even celebrate" felt pretty snarky to me. Like it even matters whether or not you celebrate the same holidays.

[–] MrEff@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

This was how the "chineese food and movies" tradition started. The Christians dominated American towns, while the next two groups (Jewish and Buddhist) did not celebrate Christmas. So the Jews would go to Chinese restaurants and the Asians would go the the Jewish owned movie theaters. Thus beginning a new several decades long American tradition for any non Christian of getting chineese food and going to the movies.

why turn down a chance for good food and celebration?
Just join them, who cares whats the reason for the holiday. it's not like all the people who celebrate christmas are even remotely christian.

There's nobody for me to join, the only family that are not horrible manipulative monsters are beyond my means of travel, currently it's just me and the dog so there's really no point in making an elaborate dinner for myself. So today is just me being bored and alone till friends become available again.

I don't not celebrate it because Christian or whatever. I don't celebrate it because there's nobody to celebrate it with

I just enjoy the time off and do whatever I want, but I'm a homebody so 🤷‍♂️

Woah, was she always wearing yellow early on or was this just for this episode? I'm so used to seeing her in command red.

Mariner was briefly promoted to lieutenant as a means to reign in her behavior. Didn't take.
