We have 1l collection bottles that go into communal return automats when full.
Gets recycled to bio fuel.

It's more in the range of 40.000.000 if I remember correctly.

Doesn't that depend on the specific isotopes? U-238 might be not that much of a problem as one might think...

I am prepared to watch it with my critical thinking activated.
After all it seems to be about a 9 year old getting an freaking entry level gun for Christmas.
We will take it with the appropriate grains of salt anyway, but thanks for the additional warning...

Sounds interesting, I will try to find a German synchro somewhere...

Until then I will be watching "Drei Nüsse für Aschenbrödel" with my daughter.
That's the most iconic traditional German Christmas watch.
It's an interpretation of Cinderella.

Never heard of it before, I don't think that film is a thing over here in Germany at all (other than e.g. Home Alone and Die Hard).

Why is there a kid dressed as the Easter Bunny?
And who are the other added kids?

Worked completely fine with Wine for me.
Also ran it on (Kubuntu) Linux because of the great batch processing.

Only one NY-equivalent?
That would be substantially less than I had expected...

Only 8%??
Dream on...

Nothing humble about it.
Suprising high-tech of its very own!
Also: Connectors.

Portable standalone MP3 player would also be a good addition very typical for the time period, plus a reference to Napster or so... :-)
I owned a Samsung Yepp 32, one of the earliest somewhat affordable ones.
The "32" stands for its whopping 32 MByte (no, not GByte) internal flash memory. Enough for half an hour of standard compressed music...

Having just received a Fourth Advent video via messenger, in which The Count of Sesame Street counted the four burning candles, I wondered how much this is common outside of Germany.

Wikipedia tells me that the tradition also is followed in other countries nowadays, but not how much.

So:
Do you know this in your country or maybe even light some candles to count the remaining time until Christmas yourself?

Or have you never heard of it before?
Do you perhaps have any other similar countdown traditions (we e.g. also have Christmas calendars giving you a little tread every day until Christmas)?

To restore the balance, I now exchanged the yellowed sensor from the sun-exposed south side balcony with the one from the shadowy north side garden.
Should keep it more even in the long run.

'They really shouldn't let those small cars drive in traffic. I worry I'm going to kill someone if I hit one! They should have to drive on the sidewalk, safely out of the way.'

Precise locations and revealing movement patterns: the mobile phone location data of millions of people in the EU is up for sale. Collected supposedly only for advertising purposes, this data can also be used for espionage. European data protection is failing – even top EU officials in Brussels are affected. Suspecting a butt load of very vague beer transactions...
