Is it temporary or are we at risk?

Try https://annas-archive.li/

That works for me. I think they are hosted by the same people, so probably temporary 🤷

Down detector does apparently not work for Annas Archive. The site itself works for me, but down detector shows it's down.

Maybe change your DNS and try again.

Try changing your DNS server

Does changing my DNS server change this result?

Depends upon the cause. If AA is blocking certain countries, for example, and your uptime checker is running from one of them, well...

Or maybe both you and the uptime site are using the same DNS provider, which might be censoring AA.

Thanks for explaining. TIL.

They didn't work for me until I used Tor. Then they all worked.

Sounds like your government or ISP is blocking it

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago

Strange, it's up for me with no issue.

Has Z Lib just been down for a while? I think I remember using it not that long ago

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 12 points 6 days ago

Oh hey - thanks for that!

It's probably temporary, this has happened before. But it does seem like most major AA sites are down.

This is a useful tool to track the main instances: https://open-slum.org/

The .org is down for me but .si isn't. It wouldn't surprise me if the Spotify download triggered some legal proceedings and resulted in a DNS name being blocked.

Any hope for original Libgen's comeback? Been waiting for a year.

[–] yardratianSoma@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

comeback? I use it all the time with the .li mirror

[–] HoleSailor@feddit.org 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It is not the official one but is better than nothing. The .li mirror is infested with cringy ads. Official ones such as .rs or .is never had any such crap.

[–] yardratianSoma@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

ads? I almost never use a browser without ad blockers, so I never noticed.
