The American people at their worst.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 89 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (7 children)

This isn't the American people. It's the will of thousands of the world's most powerful multinational oligarchs — billionaires and old money millionaire elites (plus all their class-traitor lapdogs and puppets) — who are actively corrupting ALL politics and public discourse; waging class warfare, globally.

Murdoch is one of the most well-known examples, but I'm sure there are hundreds (if not thousands) of fossil fuel and military contractor investors or board members — you've never heard of — who are criminally corrupt psychopaths that deserve to be in the dirt.

These people's only allegiance is to the almighty dollar. They have no real virtue, morals, or ethics.

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 27 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Half of the American people voted for him. So it absolutely is.

[–] entropicdrift 26 points 2 months ago (15 children)

Only about 2/3rds voted, so closer to 30% voted for him

[–] MrTomS@lemmy.world 37 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Remember 4.7 million voters were purged from the rolls in 2024.

Yes too many didn't care enough to vote but enough were prevented from voting to swing the election. Republicans are an anti democracy party

And the other 1/3 didn't mind trump enough to vote. So yes, it is the majority of American people.

[–] original_charles@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Because of the electoral college, getting out to vote when you otherwise wouldn't have is almost entirely useless in most states as the party most states will side with is basically a forgone conclusion.

On top of that, the Republican party has spent decades making it deliberately difficult to vote by limiting the number of polling places, as well as limiting mail in voting.

The Democratic party on the other hand refuses to attempt radical economic upheaval that poorer US citizens desperately need because Democrats are still the "moderate" party that is in the pocket of billionaires.

The Republicans routinely promise radical actions that they say will make things better for everyone. They're lying of course, but it's hard to be exceptionally poor, have no access to health care and vote for the party that is not advocating radical actions on your behalf.

This is the kind of imperialism that caused both world wars. Stop it now, or we all die in inevitable nuclear holocaust.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 103 points 2 months ago (3 children)

America are working on their own holocaust, they built concentration camps and a secret masked police

[–] pulsey@feddit.org 27 points 2 months ago (3 children)

We should stop using the term "America" for the USA. America is so much more than that one evil state.

[–] sauerkrautsaul@lemmus.org 41 points 2 months ago

youre technically right, but that ship has sailed. this isnt an argument worth having.

Don't tell us, tell the oligarchs

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 36 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

They're too busy being more obscenely wealthy than ever before. You're gonna have to kill a few of them for this to stop.

They've already built survival bunkers. The nuclear Holocaust isn't a worry for them. It's part of their plan

Can you yanks do that "well armed militia" thing some of you have been banging on about in defense of mowing down children with automatic weapons?

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 40 points 2 months ago (17 children)

How has it not been made clear to you that the 2nd amendment people ARE Trump supporters.

Plus the firearms people have access to don't work against the state. They really want people to try, but that's the problem with left leaning people, we think before we act.

These fuckers are putting MRAVs and other armor in the streets. Your small arms fire just tells them where you are loudly and quickly.

We must never fight on their terms. We must never fight how they are trained.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Drones are the new meta in attacking an authoritarian state.

Build yours today.

[–] SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Coincidentally, Congress just restricted drone imports about 2 weeks ago...

The people who do that are the people who support Trump.

The US government has made it so a well armed militia cannot overpower them in any shape or form. Want to tell us how to shoot down a drone at 10,000 feet before it vaporizes us? I'm all ears.

The only way this gets fixed is through a (unlikely, by design) general strike, other countries dumping US bonds, or if by some miracle the midterms actually happen.

I never thought I'd be on the side opposing the US in WWIII, but hey ho, here we go.

(And this might even mean I'm on the side opposite my own government depending on how things progress here in the meantime.)

[–] LePoisson@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago

As an American ... I never thought that either 🫤🔫

Won't this be a direct attack on Denmark/Europe?

[–] JohnEdwa@sopuli.xyz 70 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Also an attack against a NATO founding member, by another NATO founding member, making it the most confusing triggering of article 5 requiring the US to come to the aid of Denmark against itself.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 24 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I hope the good states ally with NATO to take down Florida, and allow Canada to give Trump's Ballsroom the British treatment: Gone up in smoke and flame.

The US is great at invading other countries

It has not the first clue how to safely keep one.

In the past they toppled other legitimate governments by using the CIA to cause some sort of revolution and kill the legitimate rulers.

None of that has lasted, and in the case of Iran directly led to the current theocratic dictatorship (Iran today is directly the result of US actions)

If the US invades either one of Canada, Mexico, or Greenland, it'll be fucked. Friends and allies won't turn up to help, it might causea fucking world war instead.

I don't understand why nobody stops this. Even the CEO's and all just be able to see that this isn't going to end well for anyone

Its risky, but ...OK. I'll tell Schumer to release the next memo. VERY strong language in this one. There will also be a walk out and a minute of silence, in both the Senate and the House (probably).

Can you imagine how much more useful to readers this publication could be if they wrote plainly true headlines instead of couching what happened behind click-bait bullshit?

"Stephen Miller's Wife Threatens Greenland with a Meme on Social Media"

Look, now a reader would know what actually happened.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 36 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The US already has access to Greenland's minerals. Greenland is in NATO. The fat, orange murderer/felon/rapist is greedy beyond measure.

[–] itsprobablyfine@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lol it's not about getting the US access, it's about getting his personal business ties access at the expense of the American taxpayer/lives of American soldiers. He doesn't care about wealth for the country, he cares about wealth for himself.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 21 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It's even dumber then that. It's because Greenland looks big on the map.

Good luck figuring out a novel legal theory for dealing with the NATO treaty and all of Europe.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 51 points 2 months ago

They still haven't even offered a legal theory for destroying those Venezuelan boats.

"Because I can" is the legal theory at this point.

Because there are systems in place which enable sociopaths and psychopaths to become the richest and most powerful people in the world and the world is never enough for them.

[–] Gsus4@mander.xyz 15 points 2 months ago

Because there are no consequences (short-term, at least)
