This seems like a great idea, actually.

Let other NATO members deploy semi-permanent forces there as well. Do it under the guise of Trump's excuse and call his bluff.

"Trump is worried about Russia and China taking Greenland? Fine. Now we're reinforcing it with NATO resources, shithead."

It can double as a training exercise.

I feel like it's time Denmark also took a stand, and set requirements that if USA is to have any military bases and personel on Greenland and Denmark, it should be a condition that USA won't show any interest it anexing or invading the country - although this should be self explained between allies

That's the problem with the orange child rapist. You can't take his word or anything he signs for granted as it's worth nothing. Denmark (and the rest of the NATO) should start attacking the US where it hurts them more: money. They have military strength, but that's all. At this point it's just them against the world, and as much military as they might have, attacking their wallet will make even their military crumble almost instantly.

Not just the orange child rapist, but the occult gang of Thiel, who also murder gays and know about the antichrist.

By 2026 in religious America I would have hoped that anyone even knowing about the antichrist should be arrested and detained on suspicion of being the antichrist.

It would be hard for the small country of Denmark to hit the world’s biggest economy in any noticeable way though

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hence the "rest of the NATO" of my comment.

It would be hard to convince, let’s say, Turkey, Poland or Italy that some Danish island in the Atlantic is their problem too

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

If anything, countries will see possibilities and profit in any conflict

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

EU treaties mean that an attack on Greenland is an attack on Poland.

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

Eh, so many things rely on international cooperation to "make sense". If Europe or any member states, for example, stopped recognizing US copyright or anti-circumvention laws, it would be a significant hit to their position of dominance that was built upon decades of allies granting it to them through treaties.

Don't understand why they replies from Denmark are so milquetoast ("we'd prefer not to be annexed if that's ok") where should be of "fuck off" instead, and have to put on a military dog and pony show for Orange Rapist.

Why cant nato just say "dude we will defend our nato member from you if necessary"

[–] Mvlad88@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Because on this side of the pond we are still civilized.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Civility gets you invaded.

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Not sure if telling US "fuck you" is enough to avoid invasion.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

It's not, it came out that trump was upset about Maduro dancing after being threatened so it's best to keep shit as bland and inoffensive as possible.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

So does arrogance

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Because noone knows whether NATO will do that.

In fact if US did anything active hostile intervention against another NATO member, it is likely that NATO would simply crumble and the other members would claim that they wouldn't have to live up to their obligations, since NATO doesn't exist anymore.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

The EU is a military alliance on its own, but it is not NATO though.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

don’t understand why the replies from Denmark are so milquetoast

Guess the same could be said about Americans letting their society turn into a fascist state. Especially with the last election.

[–] skeezix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But Americans have a learned helplessness. Presumably Dane's don't.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I’ll remember that as another excuse when Americans are killing innocents again or stealing their property.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Haven't heard Trump/Epstein on the news lately so it seems to be working.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Trump will kill every person on this earth before he lets us read about what a worthless loser him and his cronies are

[–] skvlp@lemmy.wtf 7 points 2 months ago

I think i figured out the orange ones plan for Greenland.

Epstein island feeble, small pedo island. Trump island big bigly biggest pedo island.

[–] Aljernon@lemmy.today 5 points 2 months ago

Military chiefs are drawing up plans for a possible Nato mission that would involve troops, warships and aircraft protecting the strategically important territory from Russian and Chinese aggression.

"Russian and Chinese aggression"

There's no doubt that both countries are aggressive and imperialistic but neither have threaten or are a threat to Greenland. The Danish land only needs to be protected from US aggression at this point. Trump doesn't have even a single security concern about Greenland: as the article goes on to say "The island is also rich in valuable natural resources, including copper, nickel and rare earth minerals that are essential for modern technology."

Old men playing Illuminati. Sad but I hope they all go with god

[–] Hermit_Lailoken@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

The illuminati was about supporting science, and against government and religious overreach.
