Not sure how tacky plastic foam shoes fit into Lego’s quest to improve their environmental impact. This press release looks straight out of “The Onion”.

Just another stupid business decision by LEGO.

They are the most profitable toy company on earth

Are you talking about LEGO right now? I think the 75 year old privately held company might know what they're doing. It's a gimmick to spur conversation about their brand.

Are we talking about Lego now? The same storied institution that nearly folded entirely around 2003 to 2004? The same company that buy 2003 was losing about a million dollars a day?

Overexpansion, gimmicks, and other issues nearly caused the storage institution to stop existign in relatively recent history.

To stop you stepping on hard Lego

I'll wait until they are selling for $10 each in the bargain bin. And then I still won't buy them.

If I saw some crocs for $10 I would get them only because I have heard they are the most comfortable shoes ever by pretty much everyone I know who has worn them.

I just wish they didn't look so god awful fucking stupid.

IMHO, they have expanded their range of looks quite a bit. But, to be completely honest, I'm currently even wearing a pair of pretty unsightly Crocs, just because they are so goddamn pleasant to walk in.

They are pretty damn comfy. Also waterproof and they float.

They're not your "on your feet all day, walking to and from A to B constantly" shoes, but they're good for a casual comfy shoe.

Also waterproof

How does water not pass through all the big-ass holes? 🤔

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

It does, but the foam won’t absorb it.

It’s great for things around water because the dry quickly.

Also great for slipping on to go outside real quick (to get the mail, take out the trash,)

I used to know people that would wear them all day at work- but they were working in a clean room and had overshoes they had to wear anyways. (They got into trouble because it had no heel.)

You've reminded me of that Vin Diesel movie xXx.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

They are extremely uncomfortable and people are only wearing them for the looks

For masochists that love walking on legos.

You're about 2 months and a week early there, Lego

Disappointed that this press release does not contain:

  • Photos of the underside
  • Dimensions of the brick
  • Assurances of compatibility with DUPLO, QUATRO, etc.

Apparently they don't plan on selling that many, as it seems the first pair has to pay design, tooling and startup. Bloody hell, 200€ for a pair of crocs... And what's up with them being only 150USD? That's like 125€, is that some tariff thing?
