Piracy is good and you should do more of it. Use https://aniwave.to/ and https://4anime.gg/ for streaming, and https://nyaa.si/ for torrents. Piracy is the only means of digital protest that audiences have to fight poor worker treatment.

the title is misleading as it was lead by Japanese publishers, it would've been the russian legal system had the owner not been Chinese

I'm not sure of any other country that would let it continue openly

So that's mangafox and bato gone. Where else is good for manga that still remains?

I don't know how useful it actually is, but I've seen https://everythingmoe.com/ cited as a good resource to find sites like this. The manga tab already has bato listed as dead, so it seems to be current.

Looking at the other categories, it needs a hentai-free warning, though

I just went over the torrent and stream sites because I'm more familiar with those, but judging by that I'd say this is a very very very good list.

I still download everything using nyaa.si

[–] inTheShadowOf@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

+1 I love nyaa.si

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah it's by far the best weeb torrent site.

try seeing if manga you were reading were fan translated or not, fan translation groups usually have sites and if not they might have a comm that can help you find a new site

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, check out this site which i think is thr e manga equivalent to AniDB and lists translator groups for manga and stuff often times.

Example: https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/fu0pi3y/kodomo-kui-ryoko

I've been using weebcentral for a while now.

If you have an android device, check out Mihon and its forks on github (sideload only since its not on the app store), you have to add an extension repo like Keiyoushi which gives you access to scrape basically every manga piracy site/aggregator that exists.

If one goes down or has slow updates which seems to be more and more frequent these days (fuck kakao), its very easy to migrate to another source.

Mangadex is nice for series they actually have, but everything popular gets removed. Madokami is kind of annoying to make an account for (you need a desktop IRC client) but it has a decent collection.

I use whatever source Kotatsu app brings up during the search but you will have to traverse through a lot of network error and cannot found or removed now. Best download the chapters when you start because the source might become removed soon.

Kotatsu is outdated (telegram channel says it's no longer in development for reasons I forgot) the fork 'Futon' continues the legacy

[–] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

Thank you for telling me doggirl-thumbsup

[–] DasRav@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Mangafox.me still seems to be up

[–] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

I use manganelo for manga and manwha zone for manwha

[–] mrfugu@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

I use ‘manga go . me’ (remove the spaces). Although I mostly use it for yaoi/BL/bara so idk how much non-romantic/sexual manga is on there fr.

I wonder if manga will ever become something torrented frequently enough to have a specialised 'e-book torrent reader' that has legal plausible deniability

Miru did this (despite the author being off the rails) and it worked really well

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I think it's probably read enough to make it successful already and the only component missing is someone actually doing it and taking on the legal risks. Manga market is a $20b industry compared to books which are $130bn (not including manga). And that's not considering the fact that a larger portion of the global manga audience is pirating rather than buying.
