That is not why I'm working my 9-5, no.

The earth is a luxury resort for about 500 people, and the rest of us are the staff.

[–] LemmyShemmy@aussie.zone 8 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Mate I am nobodys staff. They can lick my hairy balls.

[–] zensanto@ttrpg.network 3 points 2 hours ago

I wish more people had this mindset.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 8 points 4 hours ago

I hate you for this.

(I don’t hate you, I just hate how right you are good person).

Remember the Panama Papers?

Yeah...

As for the 9-5ers, how else are they gonna live? Just existing costs money in the US, and refusing to run the rat race still carries a social stigma in many places. The ideals of rugged individualism and the nuclear family as the base unit of society have eroded communities and people are somewhat isolated even in urban centers. Social media only fuels this effect by giving people a synthetic sense of community and belonging.

No one's likely to make waves until they see a direct threat to themselves or a community they identify with is at their doorstep.

heck you don't even need epstein for the 9-5 thing. Its just pointless now. Work is selling you don't get paid well but with the experience you will be able to increase your wage. if you do manage to save and make enough to get a mortgage you won't keep it up long enough to pay it off and retire as you will be working at walmart in your 50's. Timothy Learys advice has never made more sense.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

It doesn't work anymore. The owners have gotten too greedy, and taken so much from working people, that we can't even make the bills with one of their jobs. The only thing to do is all decide not to work until we collectively bargain for better conditions, better pay.

And get an honest CPI, as it's understated for 50 years and we take a pay cut every year the difference between the 2-3 percent average cpi inflation under the changed metrics, and 5-8 percent that it was under the old unchanged standard, and that was just by 2008, before all of our inflation here.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 56 minutes ago (1 children)

I mean I always took his drop out was talking about the machine whether it be work or school or whatnot. What is you say is exactly why. If your working to be homeless you might as well just do whatever. maybe pick up work if its not corpo controlled here and there. cash under the table things for neighbors or such and growing things if you can. guerrilla planting and and harvesting. if your ok with it steal but only from the corps or the ultra wealthy or police or such.

If we organized together we could make our own communities that at a minimum could require a lot less money to get by without having a lower standard of living. We could help each other make a living in our small businesses, and we could start our own larger businesses.

Why are we working for publicly traded soul less corporations? If they don't pay enough to get by, we can just make our own companies to fill some of these needs that the profit motive is failing to provide. All of that as a sideshow too, the organization would first and foremost be marshalling our discontent, and actions, to act in concert to have impact. A general strike is on the horizon, it's the only answer to the militarized government responses we will be looking at soon.

Strikers don't even have to march on buildings. They just don't work. They can't force everyone back to work, or hunt them all down and arrest them for not working.

[–] brachiosaurus@mander.xyz 15 points 5 hours ago

This is exactly why people attack the system and capitalism. They are not "extremist" they just understood the problem.

[–] BurgerBaron@piefed.social 3 points 4 hours ago

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Do you think that anyone who's part of the working class (yes that includes these 9 to 5's you're denigrating) has any power to actually do anything to the people that spent decades abusing war orphans, abducted kids and anyone they could get their hands on?

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 12 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Luigi showed us that yes we do have some power.

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Remind me where he is, currently.

(Innocent or otherwise but that's a discussion for another day)

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago

In our hearts and inspiring our minds.

It's a lot easier to get to some "poor" healthcare CEO than it is to get to a multi-billionaire like Musk, Zuck, or Trump.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 1 hour ago

Playing mario brothers single player it would be. But if we could play multiplayer, there would be nothing stopping us, if anonymous. We just need the system to play like that. Wait what are we talking about, mario kart obviously.

You know the people who had the files this whole time are the same people that would be the ones doing the arresting right?

How many of these releases do we need to have to realize that the truth being either exposed or rumored doesn't change anything.

We had the Panama Papers. There was the Snowden leaks. The Chelsea Manning leaks. Hell, the fucking CIA admitted they were secretly drugging civilians with LSD just to see what would happen.

If you are surprised that this time is any different, you aren't paying enough attention.

I genuinely think trump will hit 27% approval rating and be impeached over his involvement in the ring.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

for the third time?! Oh my god! I bet the consequences will be the same as the time he was found guilty and became a felon!

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

His approval ratings were in the 40s during the first two impeachments. We're having 30 point seings towards the left in Texas now. Big difference in the conditions.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

oh wow, he wasn't even president when he became a convicted felon, I'm sure his 30 point whatever is going to save you yanks

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'm Canadian and if you're British you really are throwing stones in a glass house, bruv innit?

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 1 points 58 minutes ago* (last edited 38 minutes ago)

if you’re British

My cultural identity is more complicated than the gender identity of the people posting in 196.

But I get your sentiment. Not sure why a canadian is keeping his pulse on texan local politics, but meh

Bottom line: NOBODY will be arrested as a result of the Epstein Files, and if they do, they will never be convicted. The "Epstein Files" have been through so many hands, all of which are reviled by one side or the other, that the chain of custody is irretrievably broken. None of it is reliable, and no jury would convict based on any of it as the sole evidence.

I hate the whole situation, and would love to incarcerate any of them, but as a juror, I could never trust any of the evidence.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

What is your basis for the assertion that the chain of custody has been broken?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 4 hours ago

It's been in the Biden administration hands, which MAGA doesn't trust, and it's been in MAGA hands, which nobody trusts. ALL of it is compromised, and I wouldn't trust the validity of a single document from it as evidence strong enough to survive a courtroom challenge.

As an internet commenter, I might accept it enough to make some nasty comments against PedoCons, but I would never rely on it to take away someone's freedom, even if they are monsters.

It's okay, these MAGA Morons have all committed plenty of other crimes we can convict them for, if we can only show a little courage. A year in prison for corruption feels the same as a year for pedophilia, so it doesn't really matter which crimes we convict them of, as long as we convict them of something, and they all offer a range of choices for indictments.

[–] Probably_Jayson@lemmy.world 36 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Arrested? We should stand up and kill these people. Did you read what was in those files?

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 1 points 3 hours ago

Too bad the "Kill your local pedophile" are the "Elect your national pedophile" people.

Do we have concrete incriminating evidence of wrongdoing? Like, even if you have written extensively with Jeffrey and visited his Island, that still doesn't prove that you're guilty of anything. I think probably you are, but it's very difficult to prove.

Sure, you might even admit that you slept with women on the island - but again, how to prove that these women were not of consenting age, or that they were not on the island by their own free will?

[–] MunkysUnkEnz0@lemmy.world 23 points 10 hours ago

https://www.epsteinexposed.com/

I've read more of the files than I would like to admit. Yes, we do.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

How about this, anyone associated with him any way get the fucking ax. Once we have done that for anyone in the files as even meeting with the guy, we can sift through the ashes and apologize to the 3 people out of thousands that didn't know anything was happening.

I don't even care to hear their testimony. They would lie. They would cover. If we give these parasites the benefit of an actual trial, nothing will ever happen because they control the courts. They control the law enforcement.
