I made a post with the title something like:

"AI bubble will pop" is the new "This year is the Linux year". Changing my mind.

My intention was to start a discussion about people saying AI bubble will pop but it never happens.

It was meant to be provoking to motivate people to try to argue.

The thing is the post completely disappeared from my profile, I can't even see it anymore? Is it normal?

I don't think this is reason enough to permanently ban me. I didn't even get a warning, mute or something.

anything I can do?

Move on with your life? Seriously, who cares that you got banned from a community.

It was meant to be provoking to motivate people to try to argue.

Have you thought about not being a terrible person trying to make people argue online?

There is a difference between hateful arguing and having a productive argument. Esspecially in places where a single view dominates it is important to sometimes hear the counterpoints to avoid living in a bubble.

If your interest is in starting arguments in their community it seems like a reasonable response to me. Fuck AI is expressly for people who hate LLMS, not for people looking to argue about it.

If you can’t message the mods, move on.

Fuck AI is an echo chamber. A lot of Lemmy is an echo chamber TBH. But that’s the community moderators' call to make.

[–] CodenameDarlen@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I agree, it feels a massive echo chamber, that's why I didn't ditched Reddit already.

I'm against AI in many scenarios, but I like to hear other opinions to make sure I'm right.

I've learned a lot by hearing contrary opinions to mine.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I mean if you want to hear a contrary opinion, seek out the local LLM crowd.

Sam Altman and his pyramid scheme can go to hell, but I like local LLMs. As tools. They're kinda what Lemmy is to Reddit.

At worse, make your own "Fuck AI" community, or find some adjacent community in another instance. The fediverse's potential for redundancy is a godsent for when a community is problematic for whatever reason. No need to worry about enduring a given community because its name was already taken and is being run to the ground. =)

But if you must follow the community where you are banned, I second the suggestion of contacting the moderation team.

It was meant to be provoking to motivate people to try to argue.

Absurd. People don't argue on the internet.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

Try creating a dialogue in a less antagonistic, dick-ish way.

[–] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe next time you wanna start a discussion, just do that? Why did you think provocation would lead to a discussion, instead of people just assuming you are a troll?

As for the ban, contact the mods. If they dont want to unban you, well, then thats that.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Make your own community where you can't be banned.

That's what I always told people on reddit subs that complained their post was removed for not following rules.

Nothing is stopping you from running your own community/sub.

How do you find deleted posts?

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

it doesnt appear to be deleted. but then, im not using lemmy.

the way the fediverse works, all this communities contents are mirrored on my home instance and i just pulled up your posts from there at https://moist.catsweat.com/u/@CodenameDarlen@lemmy.world

[–] CodenameDarlen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's weird, it just vanished from my profile.

I found it weird because usually when I delete a post it's just tagged as "deleted" for me. And I can even undelete it.

But this one completely vanished.

Still trying to figure out how lemmy works.

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

i dont know why its not visible, but there is zero evidence to jump to a 'deleted' or 'banned' conclusion.

[–] CodenameDarlen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

til.. its not in the mod log

nm, i found it (farhter back than expected):

It was meant to be provoking to motivate people to try to argue.

Yeah, you choose the wrong place for that. It should be quite obvious from the name of that community that it's for ranting and memeing about AI and AI apologism has no place there.

Permaban is a bit of over kill though, maybe nicely ask the mods.
