I think it would be good for the community and people in the US to have ways to make sure they’re not creating relationships with ICE agents. If the community doesn’t want it all good. and obviously not meant to profile people.

  1. Obviously we know some names of agents who have murdered people: Jonathan Ross, Brian Palacios, Jesus Ochoa, Raymundo Gutierrez
  2. I presume they’d be pretty conservative and machismo. Maybe have some blue lives stickers on their truck.
  3. Maybe tattoos, specifically Punisher. Could be police also.

What else could you use to sniff out if somebody is ICE if they’re hiding it from you?

Just use basic observation. Do they speak in single syllable words? Do they start shaking whenever they see shades darker than white? Do they start salivating when they see boots?

Suck their cock and see if it shoots blue shit out

I think just getting to know someone and judging them based on who they are is a lot more important. Rather than trying to suss out someone's group affiliations (like if they are part of ICE), why not simply pay attention to how they treat others and the kind of actions they take when faced with challenges? They will naturally show their embodied values and beliefs, and you can then make an informed decision on whether you want to associate with that person or not.

Essentially I think we should be judging people individually. Rather than trying to figure out what kind of person someone is based on their aesthetic choices like stickers or tattoos, see if they treat others with compassion. Everyone makes mistakes and does bad things sometimes, but the people worth sticking around usually recognize when they do, feel remorse, and work on it.

i learned this lesson recently. she had a no-ice, no-racism, no-homophobia, pro-choice sign on her establishments door and also had an isreali gay pride themed flag inside.

In case you'd like to date a racist moron but not one from ICE?

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

They might just seem like a regular conservative person

Honestly “regular conservative people” are too embarrassed by the racist morons to be conservatives anymore. If you still identify with the conservative movement today you are a racist moron.

Have you considered.... Asking them? If they lie they lie and you'll find out they're a shit person (and know it) pretty shortly.

But yeah if you want to get psycho about it just follow them to work.

Do you support trump? That's the only question I think I'd care about.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

there are plenty of people who hate trump, but still believe things like gazan genocides and ice are the "cost of doing business"

[–] Eufalconimorph@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 22 hours ago

The business is genociding the out-group. It is just the cost of doing business to them.

If you let slip your opinion, they’re likely to vet themselves. May be risky in a workplace scenario, though.

[–] LapGoat@pawb.social 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i think there are likely easier ways to know if a coworker is working for ice

Ask them if they've read Ammon Bundy's piece about immigration, and ask them what they think of it. Keep in mind that Bundy is pretty far right in almost every way, but almost all of his right-wing militia buddies have abandoned him on this.

IMO he's arrived at the right conclusion, but his reasons--because god--are nonsense. It's going to be interesting to see how his worldview changes as he realizes that most of the people that he thought were True Believers like him were only allies of convenience.

I suspect the lack of experiences of being with or even having a significant other is what drove the majority of these bastards to this proto-SA. Where they can be powerful grunt grunt and dress up in GI cosplay. There is this lordofthefliesification that takes place when all these frustrated men get together. Anyways, that's why I suspect this is almost a trick question. How can you detect if you're dating an ICE prick? You won't have to. Chances are they are socially very awkward, behaviorally weird and therefore undatable. It's this quality that set them on an authority loving, very likely misogynic, for various reasons chronically underfucked path in life where they thought hunting and terrorizing innocent people and shooting them if they can get away with it is a great career choice. It shows.

[–] reabsorbthelight@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

This is generally why I don't like this social isolation of conservatives. It leads then to extremes. You don't need to date them, but you can be friends with them.

A lot of them were raised in cults (I was). After I got out, I housed this guy who was hard right, but talked with him, cleaned his guns with him and now he's doing better. He was just traumatized from a hard childhood.

And honestly, shooting guns, riding 4 wheelers and other conservative things are fun.

[–] FriendOfDeSoto@startrek.website 0 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Would you agree though that there is a qualitative difference here? Platonically befriending a person and having an intimate, probably sexual relationship with a person are two different scenarios. And the question was about dating in particular. I'll have a much easier time trying to humor a person I don't share a bed with. People tend to not take one for the team to get them over their misogyny.

[–] reabsorbthelight@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Yeah, that's why I suggested it. The guy I housed softened, left the military and now just works in a hospital. Had we not befriended him, he'd probably be ICE now.

Also I wouldn't call it humoring. Just actually being his friend. He's human too and it's not his fault he was raised in a shitty environment. He was never show any alternative way to live

Just ask them their thoughts on legal and illegal immigration . Its not that hard

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

that's not a good litmus test because even moderates approve of legal; dissaprove of legal; and are still unware that neither matters in ice's eyes.

most of their prison population comes from people who were trying to do it legally.

[–] lukecooperatus@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Also not a good litmus because anyone supporting the concept that immigration should be divided into categories of "legal" and "illegal" is implicitly supporting the idea of the existence of ICE and organizations like it.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I think you have just proved my point, you telling me that shows that you are a reasonable person, by not going one way and opening a point of discussion.

[–] lukecooperatus@lemmy.ml 1 points 12 hours ago

Yeah that's a good point, the question itself leads to someone either revealing their whole ass, or showing that they are good people.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

People can be anti-illegal immigration and be anti-ICE

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ask them out on a date to a protest.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Oh that’s a good one, but risky for protesters

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 21 hours ago

oh yeah. Had not thought about that angle. Do the constitution one.

[–] etchinghillside@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

Gotta ask everybody for their tax returns. I like that practice.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social -5 points 1 day ago

Ask them if they believe the following. Citizens accept the constitution. Patriots defend the constitution. Traitors ignore the constitution.
