Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

No one cares what you think Marjorie.

[–] Xenny@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

I don't care what she thinks but I wonder if a ton of Republicans care what she thinks. Therefore, her having a voice anti-trump is good right now but she should probably be de-platformed after this is all over

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 days ago

I hate and distrust her, but she has raised massive amounts through small dollar donations.

People care more about what she says than establishment candidates.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

I only do because she no longer simply parrots the MAGA marching orders. I still don't like or trust her, but there are some who do and any fracturing of the far right is a good thing.

Marj is still a weirdo winger, but at least she seems to actually give a rip about the pedo stuff and the foreign wars nonsense.

yeah the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy they just pointed right this time

She should have stayed in to fight it instead of jumping ship

[–] Laser@feddit.org 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And do actual work?

Left exactly three days she was eligible for her congressional pension.

If her constituents who voted for her weren't so stupid, they'd be upset.

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh yeah, we're on the same page there. She's in it for herself.

[–] Laser@feddit.org 4 points 1 week ago

She's in it for herself.

Blending in perfectly with the rest

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I imagine at this point she might have to scare up more money to pay for security for herself and her family.

Kind of like Amon Bundy. I was shocked to learn that his "libertarian" values were actually opposed to masked agents of the state kidnapping minorities and executing liberals.

MTG and the other Mar-A-Lago Faces are vapid headline chasers. Being ultra MAGA crazy doesn't swing the pr needle anymore, but being contrarian to Trump now is newsworthy.

I can't tell if she's just grifting or if she sincerely thought the cult of personality was a cult of principles all along.

Trump and a lot of these MAGA people ran on (and did seem like) being isolationists. I do think war is a big no-no for a lot of them.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

I think she's just a crazy person that fully drank the Cool Ade for years and 100% believed everything MAGA and Trump said. She has no critical thinking skills but got burned by Trump and that's the only reason she's seeing things differently. The classic "I didn't know this would happen until it affected me" situation. Still absolutely crazy with zero critical thinking skills, though. She's not my friend, but I'm extremely glad she's the enemy of Trump now.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

In all likelihood, both.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

If those kids could think, they'd be very upset.

He will bomb Iran with no boots on the ground, whatever you call that. He's all about imagery and he doesn't want the imagry of soldiers being blown up.
