This fiction needs to stop.
You can't carry a war out "responsibly". There are no clean wars.
A war that's started with "limited" "computer-guided" "precision" "decapitation strikes" and "according to international law" will inevitably kill thousands of civilians if it goes on for any length of time.
A bombed-out kindergarden or hospital doesn't say anything about how the war is fought.
All it says is "yep, this is war." It's to be expected in war.

Too many people still think that a war can be clean somehow. And that's a dangerous thought, cause it lowers the threshold to start one. There are no clean wars. War is always an evil act, and to be avoided at all cost.

You have been cited for breaking @mrdown@lemmy.world's community rule against mormalizing in the community. If you persist in continuing to defy, break, and mormalize, you could quickly find yourself facing consequences. Including but not limited to being prohibited from interacting with @mrdown@lemmy.world ever again for the rest of your natural life.

I stand by my stance that war is the wrong answer to literally any issue, period.
If pacifism is against the rules, I have no further interest in participating with whomever set those rules.

You are basically saying there is nothing we can do because wars are never clean. It's your ststement that is dangerous

Okay, if we're going to be serious for a second, sure. Saying all war is dirty comes with risks too, though; people try and excuse actual atrocities that way. There is such a thing as really dirty vs. minimally dirty.

Stop mormalizing war crimes

So he does not say anything at all, only thinks to himself?

[–] Nelots@piefed.zip 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's garfield for you. He's just a cat after all.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago

Exactly, cats speak Portuguese anyways

Thank you for engaging with my content! Jon Arbuckle says How was the spinach casserole! Garfield says Donald Trump just bombed another kindergarten! This war is not being carried out responsibly!

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

But when he says it, why is it a thought bubble?

[–] qrstuv 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Still having trouble? Okay, let's break it down! Jon Arbuckle says How was the spinach casserole! The speech bubble means he's talking! Then Garfield says Donald Trump just bombed another kindergarten! This war is not being carried out responsibly! The speech bubble means he's talking! Now that you know how to read comic strips, you can progress beyond making superficial remarks about the bubbles and can engage with the ideas being presented!

[–] pieguy 5 points 2 days ago

I think what they're really asking is how can Jon Arbuckle understand Garfield's thoughts. Is one of them a telepath?

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 4 points 2 days ago

Presumably because as a cat, he doesn't have the capacity to communicate this to humans in a way that they'd understand?
