The Reichstag fire (German: Reichstagsbrand, pronounced [ˈʁaɪçstaːksˌbʁant] ⓘ) was an arson attack on the Reichstag building, home of the German parliament in Berlin, on Monday, 27 February 1933, precisely four weeks after Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany. Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch council communist, was said to be the culprit; the Nazis attributed the fire to a group of Communist agitators, used it as a pretext to claim that Communists were plotting against the German government, and induced President Paul von Hindenburg to issue the Reichstag Fire Decree suspending civil liberties and pursue a "ruthless confrontation" with the Communists.[1] This made the fire pivotal in the establishment of Nazi rule in Germany.

He's super nonchalant about it. This is how politicians actually feel when they know you're struggling/suffering. There is no feeling.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 15 minutes ago

He knows when 9/11 happened, Americans shit their pants and threw away all their rights to government.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 hour ago

"Oh noooo, the Reichstag is on fire!"

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

So this is the moment then when the 2A Magats will take their guns and go for justice, right?

Right?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 hour ago

Yes, against those evil Democrats!

[–] deltaspawn0040@lemmy.zip 14 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

"and that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make"

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

Ding ding ding

Spoken like a man secure in the idea that they won’t make it through to him.

Incoming. One Trump Sponsored false flag act of terrorism coming up.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

On one hand this is unrealistic because it directly implicates Trump for starting this conflict and people are going to blame him and the administration for any kind of terrorism on US soil.

On the other hand, these are not very bright people, they are literally stupider than almost anyone typing on this website. They are only invulnerable because of money and connection.

Either way it's not necessary, Trump's base doesn't know shit about shit, they're glued to their TV's listening to FOX and if the president said Iran conspired with Antifa and the Transes and blew up the entire statue of liberty and Mount Rushmore, the base would believe it and never question it even if you kidnapped them, dragged them to the sites and threw them off.

[–] Uranus_Hz@lemmy.zip 16 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

And AI will “prove” that Dems and “Antifa” conspired with Iran to do it.

It would be the stupidest thing they could possibly do. The war has like a 20% approval rate. If they attacked on American soil the cowboys would flood the enlistment offices.

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 1 points 28 minutes ago

You're assuming the decision-makers on any side are supremely intelligent and rational. They are not.

[–] saimen@feddit.org 8 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

To me this sounds like just another reason the Trump regime could do something themself making it look like it was Iran.

[–] curiousaur@reddthat.com 1 points 3 hours ago

Not Trump, he's not even the one who wants this. Israel. Just like they did last time.

[–] MartianRecon@lemmus.org 97 points 16 hours ago (7 children)

False flag attacks are coming. Mark my words.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 48 points 15 hours ago

Probably also "Iranian election interference" and a need to federalize elections so Trump can avoid the inevitable in November.

[–] duncan_bayne@lemmy.world 17 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

.... maybe?

With the disclaimer that I'm not at all sad that Khomeini was a casualty, Trump's illegal war against Iran is set to provoke some real attacks in, probably, quite short order.

[–] too_high_for_this@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Khomeini has been dead for 36 years. Khamenei is the guy who was just killed.

If Iran were to destroy Mar A Lago, I think we could let it slide.

[–] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 39 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I unconditionally surrender all of Florida on behalf of the usa.

Let it slide? No. Medals would need to be given out.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 41 points 17 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 28 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

They can have all of Florida as far as I'm concerned.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 10 points 14 hours ago

I'd have to send a thank you letter

Trump is just trying to bring more people onto the side of supporting his illegal war on Iran by proposing an unrealistic risk of danger to the U.S.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 127 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

A danger that he totally incited in the first place by being a bloodthirty moron.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 40 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

He's trying to do "wag the dog" without a dog.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 43 points 17 hours ago

Is that because Noem murdered it?

I say he is preparing the people for an ‘act of terror by Iran’, meaning there is going to be a false flag incident. He can then use that to claim war powers and dismantle the last sliver of US-American democracy.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 36 minutes ago

I wonder how much time we've got left til that happens

real farquaad energy here

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 42 points 17 hours ago

Why would this be a shock to anyone? He let hundreds of thousands of Americans die to covid.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 52 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Hilarious watching them push "this isn't a war" over and over again just for Trump to constantly call it a war.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 5 points 10 hours ago

Don't tell me....it's a "special military operation", right?

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 22 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Some people say they want a terror attack, to get emergency declarations and steal the midterms. I just hope this is not true. A lot of innocent people would die for few remain in power. I don’t know what to believe anymore.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 27 points 14 hours ago

Fascists are in power. That's enough to believe in while you go look for historical examples of fascists being peacefully voted out of office. That ought to keep you busy until oh, his fourth term.

The follow-up is, "Why?"
