In real life I have never seen someone care. Some people avoid it because RL has consequences, but most just don't care about other people's sexuality. I don't live in the US tho.

It's very sad that people still suffer for something that shouldn't be an issue to anyone. This hate is fed to ignorant people so they don't focus on real issues that affect their life.
There are some cultures where bigots are more prevalent, with ignorance and religion being the main catalysts. The US has plenty of both.
There are bigots in my country too, but they are more oppressed because here, hate is not considered free speech and culturally, most people will ostracize you if you express divisive opinions.
On the internet they are rampant, because of the amplification effect and perceived anonymity.

Lemmy also has a misogyny problem, despite being progressive on most issues. Besides my own experience, I’ve seen this a lot in women/feminism-related threads.
Literally tho, I read a post to an article about "The Misogyny Problem on TikTok" and the top comment was the most lemmy tone-deaf "so don't use corporate social media (with algorithms)"

I think society at large has a misogyny-as-default problem unfortunately. I guess most of us have been raised with biases we're not really aware of until we reach a certain level of self-reflection.
Sometimes I feel like Lemmy is worse than reddit in this regard. The amount of blatant misogony I see is unreal. Memes, posts, comments, it's everywhere, often not-so-subtly too.

Some people don't know how to deal with an overtly sexual woman. It throws them for a loop. To some people, only men are allowed to be horny. If you're a horny woman you must be a slut who can't control their emotions and that's bad.
I think it's important for some men to realize women are people, too. I know that sounds silly to say out loud but I really think some guys think women are these completely different creatures from themselves. We're all human and, gasp, some like to talk and joke about sex. The horror!

i sometimes experience a problem myself similar in vain to this.
as much as i enjoy snuggling and affection and even more "smutty" stuff like breasts, i do not enjoy the prospect of sex. perhaps its some form of gender dysphoria, perhaps its something else, honestly not super sure. all i know is i don't find sex appealing!! but i'm also not vehemently against it or disgusted by it. i think this article puts it really well:

with regards to nudity: the only times it actually makes me feel a little uncomfortable is when it is set in a sexual/romantic setting. if someone is at the lake with not as much as a patch of covering on them and just swimming around and having fun, i don't mind at all. so long as its not sexualized i think nudity is perfectly okay! but, if it is brought into any romance through even just caressing the other's hair or whatever, it puts me off a little.
again, i do like this sort of affection, i do absolutely find people attractive. i just enjoy being able to be affectionate or observe it without having to partake in/bear witness to sex!
however, a marginally decent number of people are seemingly unable to comprehend any this. quite often some people get incredibly confused no matter how much i try and explain this to them. i've never really been ridiculed for it thankfully, but it just does not seem to compute in some people's heads that i am not fond of sex!!
that aside, this is thankfully one of the better places i've seen on the internet, and i'm glad to be here!! regardless i provide you with my best wishes when it comes to fending off the demands of the internet, and my apologies for the ramble :D
