My son was upgraded from ADHD to AuDHD last week. It all makes sense now.
This is interesting because I'm diagnosed with ADHD, but I'd rather have way too much to read even useless information, as long as I have every single bit of information I need for the task with minimal guessing required
I'd have to do two passes and spend the first one highlighting the actual important stuff
Same. My anxiety about doing the task wrong is so distracting that clear instructions helps sooth the symptoms.
Not to say anything stupid like "everyone is a little..."
But ideally all directions for everyone should be like that, and if they're not you might as well realize they'll be ignored.
This is my pet theory as for why it's so common in scifi for some ignorant Earthling to easily pilot a totally unfamiliar alien/futuristic spacecraft: as technology improves, so does ease of use. By the time a civilization has mastered interstellar travel and antigravity and so forth, a truly user-friendly interface is a solved problem.
This is why accessibility benefits everyone!
It always threw my bosses for a loop when they'd get huffy and ask me if I wanted them to find me work and I'd immediately respond "yes please"
Is this common? For me, the aut keeps the ADHD in check, while the ADHD kicks the aut's ass. More or less, influenced by meds.
