I am trying to move more away from YouTube. I have a Nebula subscription, and it reduces the "withdrawal" somewhat. I still am more interested in PeerTube due to being an open platform.

Any recommendations to get me started?

I'm biased, but I recommend my own content! :D

I run TubeFree.org and have created a Peertube chain of trust as well. So I'm pulling in from multiple sources and have an index others can use if they'd like. https://ptindex.btfree.org/

The code is open source so you can also build your own if you'd like. https://git.btfree.org/BTFree/PTIndex

Always looking to add more servers though if anyone has recommendations.

I want random crap from real people, just not at the choreographed quantity present on YT now. Nebula isn’t that.

I run the PeerTube instance https://video.nyc/. It's only me for now, but I sometimes post some interesting microscopy on the channel "Dora's Friends"

I also have a daily underwater livestream of my indoor pond which can be low stress background video. 8am to 1am eastern US time. You'll often see fish shrimp and snails living their underwater lives. https://video.nyc/w/vLW9JoVetAYRECoWRGwhui

There are a few other great microscopy channels on PeerTube that I like. Quality over quantity.

You should check out tilvids.com instance, a lot of youtubers also post their content here.

Nebula is great, but they dont seem to be adding many creators, which is a real shame, and not taking any suggestions for new channels, means its alway going to be pretty limited in its offering. Which is why i cant REGULARLY sub to it. The content is just super limited.

Are you moving away because you don't like the company running it?

ReVanced and blockers is a good solution for that in its own way.

But if it's something else, please let me know because YouTube is probably what I use most in place of a streaming service, so if there's something better, let me know.

Theres nothing better, they have a monopoly. Everything else is going to be a huge downgrade.

So to ease me into something that scratches that itch, I am asking for alternatives. Something interesting I can learn from during breakfast with my wife. Unfortunately alternatives are not great, they all lack something vital. Biggest issue is too few creators. So using Grayjay connected to different other platforms can maybe cover some of the need.

Yeah ReVanced/Morphe work but if you really want to go against the monopoly YouTube has as a consumer you need to consume alternatives. More people on alternatives -> more creator will switch and so forth. Of course it is somewhat a chicken and egg problem but thats what you should do from a consumer perspective to break that circle.
