Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 6 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Yes. Yesterday supposedly they gave him a bog bribe. He claims.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 22 hours ago

He was supposed to drain the swamp, yet he accepted a bog from them?? Hypocrite!

[–] Twig@sopuli.xyz -3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, someone pointed out elsewhere that MSM has only just started reporting it for some reason

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The article you posted is from two weeks ago. And it is from a mainstream outlet. And I've seen it posted by several others, two weeks ago. You simply posted an old article.

[–] Twig@sopuli.xyz -2 points 1 day ago

Not denying any of that. Just saw it myself, posted it and said what other people have said.

First AI video I ever enjoyed. It goes hard AF.

Nah. I'm making an exception. It was for a good cause.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

Prez will now bomb lego hq for this vid.

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 9 points 1 day ago

Is this the "nice little present " he was on about?

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Something about stones and glass houses... Iran hasn't quite been nice to young girls either...

[–] Twig@sopuli.xyz 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think we're all aware that Iran isn't the best place in the world and using AI isn't exactly great either, but at least it'll piss off Trump and call him out on his bullshit.

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

No I get it. And it is refreshing to see at least a few countries troll back at him. But lets be honest. They would be best friends if Trump didn't need a distraction from the Epstein files and if Iran wasn't as powerful as it is in the middle east.

It doesn't change the fact that

-Legal Age of Maturity: Iranian law defines a child as having reached maturity at just 9 lunar years for girls, compared to 15 for boys, reducing the period of legal protection for young females.
-Child Marriage: Girls can legally marry at 13, and some even younger with court permission, resulting in over 16,000 marriages involving girls aged 10–14 in the first half of 2021.
-Discrimination in Law: The legal system enforces unequal rights, such as discriminatory inheritance laws (Article 907) where female heirs receive less than male heirs.
-Restrictions: Girls face strict, state-mandated gender segregation and dress codes (hijab) from a young age
(Wikipedia)

The difference is that it is legal there, and illegal here.

[–] Twig@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 day ago

Definitely some horrific stuff going on over there, probably in part thanks to democracies being toppled by the US, pushing back any progressive values having any chance.

It's good they're playing Trump at his own game, not letting the Epstein files be forgotten.

[–] sneakypersimmon@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There’s a lot of states in the US that similarly allow child marriage, but I understand your point.

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

That only shows a problem in the US. Not that it is acceptable

Edit: on second thought I might have misinterpreted your comment. Maybe you are referring to the part where I said that it is illegal here. I am sorry that I didn't specify "here". I meant it as the western civilization in general. I don't live in the US, so "here" wasn't specific to the US

[–] sneakypersimmon@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

You were directly talking about Trump and Iran being friendly in your comment, so yes, I presumed you were comparing Iran to the US.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

That's obvious. What is interesting is that Iran is using trump tactics against trump. Fuck 'em both though.

[–] Honytawk@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Anyone has a link to the full video without commentary? The website just has links to itself.

Found one, but even this one is not the original. https://x.com/Simo7809957085/status/2031765409620250698

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Also a link that isn't on some creepy Nazi pedo website?

It's gotta feel pretty weird working for Lego and watching this.
