This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.
We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.
5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW
Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

I just want Xbox live without having to pay 120 a year. I could care less for any games
Why pay anything to play online?
Only for non free to play games. This is standard across all consoles. Only on PC it online play does not cost extra.
Because Xbox provides the only populated servers for the games I want to play. I’m not happy about it either
Can happily say I've never held a xbox game pass and have slowly watched the service turn from abysmal to insulting.

Well, what if to boost sales numbers we add a tier that ONLY gives you our lame first party games!
Because they refuse to see games as a creative artform. Or, they think they ate, but then do the worst corpo bs to them. This all reeks of some boardroom joining all their MBAs together to come up with this brilliant shit covered plan.

I personally don't think anyone should pay for xbox game pass, but this is a bit of an exaggeration imho. Xbox Game Studios have published some great games in the past decade. Among them, in no particular order:
- Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition
- Age of Empires 4
- Psychonauts 2
- A couple of Forza games
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- Hellblade 2
- Grounded
- As Dusk Falls
Careful, putting out the message that they're amazing games could lead to the studios getting fired. Like what happened to Hi-Fi Rush.
Age of Mythology: Retold, and its 2 (soon to be 3) major expansions.
And that’s not even close to a full list, either. There’s also Flight Simulator, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush. Probably others I’m forgetting too.
There’s plenty to hate on MS for, and I’m not saying they haven’t squandered a lot of the talent they paid for, but to say they’ve released nothing great for over a decade is just ignorant.
I know of Age of Empires; but the others I don't recognize, thought were Indie 500, or an actual Indie game.
Sounds awful, thanks. I can't wait to laugh when I see the ridiculous amount they probably want per month.
it would need to be so much cheaper to be worth it. Like current GP ultimate already is a scam and a half unless you were essentially buying a AAA title every 2 months, unless the price of this subscription is at least a quarter the price of ultimate it wouldn't be worth it imo.
