Does Pizzaballa have a unique perspective compared to most Catholics?
He's slightly left of Francis but not a fringe radical or anything. He has wide respect from the dominant pastoral faction. His theology is generally orthodox, only a little liberation theology because frankly it's hard not to reference it if you're in Palestine.
IIRC he was regarded as one of the better more progressive candidates for pope in the most recent cycle. Leo though was pretty unknown and seems a middling note, mostly talking with one side of his mouth while his hands do nothing.
