Obviously it'd be better all around if he never had a stroke to begin with but I feel like it's nice to hear his poems and notice the significant improvement in his dictation in each one.

So many people get shit that's impossible to recover from and strokes affect such a vital part of the person so it's just kind of nice to know someone's recovering nicely.

yea. so much.

I'm always so heartened when there's a marked improvement in the clarity of his speech and train of thoughts.

I'm more and more confident that he's going to get back to his true form and that his fantastic mind is not going to be trapped behind language frustration forever etc.

Seen't it happen with someone in my family, everyone thought they were for sure not waking up from the stroke and coma, and it was not a pretty recovery, but they're back and still 100% the same complete pain in my ass and I want that for the world with Matt.

I can’t remember which exact set of episodes it was, but sometime in last year maybe, and like the change in his verbal communication was incredible, between the two shows. In the most recent of the two, he almost sounded like the old Christman in terms is speed and tone, albeit with some strange phrasing. It warmed my heart immensely.

It must have been so shocking and frustrating for him; he was such a good speaker/ really interacted with the world via elaborate speech, and consistently find yourself blocked or hampered must be so incredibly challenging.

Like you, obviously I wish it had never happened in the first place, but I’m hopeful that the struggle and effort he’s been dealt will give him a silver lining of some sort (beyond being alive of course) in that he’s had to really work his way back fluency.

In any case, very glad he’s improving, wish him and his family all the best.

I was so impressed (and excited) when he showed up in the latest episode. And his poetry is really fun. Matt Christman was one of those working class intellectuals you gotta admire and appreciate, and inspired me to learn more! I'm glad that he is recovering.

Was that a patreon episode? I need to hear from him again

I like his poetry and his attitude about the whole thing. The cognitive effects are nothing to be ashamed of, and he's clearly tongue in cheek embracing them by coming on and by writing his poetry. I'm glad he's starting to do so much better.
